Located on the 5th floor of the Adult Outpatient Pavilion, the Infusion Clinic provides vital care to oncology patients and other medical patients with acuity ranges from well-managed chronic conditions to acutely ill. Our nurses provide our patients the compassionate care they need during their stays and are responsible for our patients' safety while administering life-saving chemotherapy, biotherapy and other hazardous medications. The passion and dedication to our patients in the Infusion Clinic is beyond compare- our patients truly become a part of the larger infusion family as we often see them for many years over their lifetime. By joining the Infusion Clinic, you will be choosing a team that excels in teamwork and where leaders have a unique understanding of what you do. Our nurses develop a special skill set and become credentialed to hang oncology medications. Our clinic hours are 7am-7pm and we offer 4 10's or 5 8's with varying hours. We require some flexibility to work late shifts and some holidays and will have weekend hours in the future. At least 1 year of RN experience, preferably inpatient, is required and previous oncology experience is preferred.

General Information:
The Healthcare for the Homeless Suitcase Clinic, a healthcare initiative dedicated to improving the health of the local homeless population, is accepting applications for a part-time Clinic Nurse. The Clinic Nurse collaborates with other professionals to evaluate patients' physical and mental health conditions as well as other client needs. The Nurse serves as an advocate who helps patients understand their health status and how to improve it as well as a liaison between patients and clinicians, staff, and community organizations to ensure that the desired client outcomes are achieved. The Clinic Nurse reports to the Program Director for the Healthcare for the Homeless Suitcase Clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Attend all clinics at shelter sites and assist in managing clinic setup and activities
* Conduct physical and mental health assessments with homeless clients to determine needs, including health care services, emotional support, and other practical needs
* Work with individual homeless clients to develop a service plan based on an assessment of strengths and challenge areas
* Encourage clients to establish a medical home with a primary care provider and initiate referrals to medical, mental health, substance abuse, and/or dental professionals
* Work closely with the Care Coordinator to assist clients in identifying and accessing available resources including medications, financial resources, public benefit programs, and services from other organizations
* Collaborate with other Suitcase Clinic staff and volunteers and community agencies to coordinate services and avoid duplication of efforts
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client contacts, clinical notes, services needed, and services provided within appropriate deadlines
* Participate in weekly staff meetings and report on patient needs and clinic activities
Qualifications:
* RN with extensive experience
* Nursing licensure in the state of Virginia
* Knowledge of trauma, substance abuse, mental health and medical conditions common to people experiencing homelessness
* Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with people experiencing homelessness
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel) and the Internet
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team with volunteers
* Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and accomplish goals in a timely manner

Serves as a nursing clinical role model and division subject matter expert for management of ambulatory patients across multiple sites.

Unit Summary:
This unit is a 21-bed unit that provides leading- edge, collaborative, and comprehensive care for adult patients with a variety of blood and bone marrow disorders. As a part of the VCU Massey Cancer Center, the largest adult stem cell and bone marrow transplant provider in all of Virginia, we offer the latest FDA- approved CAR-T immunotherapies, clinical trials testing new and promising forms of cellular immunotherapies, as well as all forms of stem cell and bone marrow transplantation. We provide both outpatient and inpatient services in the same facility, and provide a suite of support services that range from helping minimize symptoms and side effects to coping with the cognitive, emotional, and psychological effects of cancer.
A typical shift for our nurse includes a team of mixed registered nurses, clinical coordinators, and Patient Care Techs (PCTs) caring for adult patients. We are dedicated to providing a fulfilling and high energy work environment.
