About John G. Wood
Our specialized school, John G. Wood (JGW), is just the right size to teach students with emotional and behavioral challenges that impact their academic success. Small student-teacher ratios accommodate individual learning styles with a goal to transition students back to their public school as soon as possible. JGW includes a broad range of courses for children in kindergarten through grade 12 and Extended School Year (ESY) services are available during the summer. Some residents of VHBG's group homes attend JGW in addition to students who commute from multiple localities in the Richmond region.
About the Opportunity
This full time employee will educate students enrolled in John G. Wood School utilizing evidenced-based, data-driven programming that assists students with meeting their academic and social-emotional needs. S/he is charged with providing educational and recreational services to children affiliated with VHBG's therapeutic service continuum.
Core duties and responsibilities:
• Delivers lessons that are appropriately structured and paced and includes learning activities that meet the needs of all students and lead to student mastery of Standards of Learning, Social-Emotional Objectives and Behavioral Programming.
• Effectively designs the academic programming that supports the development of critical thinking standards for academic, theoretical and real-life situations.
• Selects or designs rigorous, valid summative and formative assessments that seek to analyze student results and guide instructional decisions by 100% accuracy; ensure that student learning activities are driven by the data collected from these formative assessments.
• Adheres to procedures & policies found within our internal VHBG Policy Manuals, Federal Guidelines, State Guidelines as well as Accreditation requirements.
• Engages in self-reflection and growth opportunities to support high levels of learning for all students.
• Effectively utilizes program methodologies to address the social and behavioral deficits of students.
• Effectively works with students' parents and / or other identified stakeholders to address the academic and behavioral concerns presented in official and unofficial documentation.
• Markets to service providers and other decision-makers to influence client placements; articulating the desired culture and showing evidence of how it is reinforced.
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with parents, students, stakeholders and other staff members.
• Participates in the School Improvement Teams & Training to assist with the ongoing refinement of educational & behavioral programming offered by the school

Experience and Education:
Required:
• Professional or Provisional License in Core Subject Area or Special Education

Preferred:

About Group Care Services at VHBG
VHBG is licensed by the Department of Social Services and aims to create the most natural environment for our youth that still provides them with the supports they need to overcome past trauma, build relationships, and work on transitioning to a more permanent environment. We work directly with the child's agency that placed them with us (typically the city or county department of social services) to make decisions that are in their best interest. Youth are able to leave our campus to spend time with their families, attend summer camps, gain employment, and participate in other extracurricular activities. About the Opportunity
The Group Home Day Counselor is responsible for the treatment of up to 8 youth in a teaching-family home under the direction of the Group Home Manager. This position provides teaching, guidance and supervision
to youth to include overseeing physical care, development of acceptable habits and attitudes, positive behavioral supports, crisis intervention, assistance with the upkeep of the physical environment, helping youth achieve mastery of identified goals and objectives and the timely thorough completion of required documentation. Additionally, this position supports the day-to-day administration of the home and compliance with licensing regulations and the
policies and procedures of the agency.
Core duties and responsibilities:
· Responsible for the sight and sound supervision and engagement of youth on and off-campus
· Responsible for documenting daily activities, behaviors, contacts, and interventions.
· Responsible for providing a therapeutic, family-style treatment environment for youth according to the model and standards developed in the Teaching-Family Model.
· Responsible for professional communication with teachers, parents, caseworkers, and probation offices, etc. for the youth.
· Responsible for attending bi-weekly treatment team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
· Responsible for assisting with transportation such as youth employment, athletic events, doctor's appointments, youth home visits, etc.
· Required to work Monday - Friday day time availability.
· Follows approved Behavior Support Plans for each child.

Administrative duties and responsibilities:
· Provide general support to the Group Home Manager (GHM) as directed.
· Ensure day-to-day compliance with all routine GROUP HOME YOUTH COUNSELOR documentation (Daily Logs, MARs, Health Forms, etc.).
· Maintain Risk Management Binder, ensuring full compliance.
· Coordinate medical appointments/follow-up with nurse and/or GHM; set appointments as needed; ensure necessary paperwork is provided, received and filed accurately.
· Check and ensure each resident's point sheet for the day is completed, including: resident name, date, target skills and coping skills.
· Maintain weekly program activities calendar, ensuring alignment with the house budget.
· Physical environment: ensure home is clean, appliances/fixtures in working order; temperature for water, refrigerator and HVAC working properly.
· Conduct vehicle checklist and document accordingly.
· Ensure food supplies are sufficient to meet the needs of the posted menu (coordinate with Staff Supervisor regarding shopping/budget). Food bank pick-up.
· Ensure essential emergency supplies are available, such as first aid kits, flashlights, batteries, snow shovels, ice melt (seasonal)
· Ensure general office supplies are sufficient for operation of the home.
· Take minutes during team meetings
· Ensure vehicles have adequate gas for planned outings.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with children or adolescents
OR
An Associate's degree and 6 months experience working with children or adolescents
OR
A Bachelor's degree in a human services field and 6 months of experience working with children or adolescents.
Administrative experience preferred.
In addition, the candidate must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with driving record in good standing, must be able to successfully clear background checks associated with job, and must successfully complete in-house training.
VHBG will provide you a hiring bonus of $500 on your one month anniversary and then a retention bonus of $1,500 on the first paycheck following your first year anniversary. If your employment with VHBG is ended for any reason prior to six months of employment, the first installment will be recouped in your final paycheck.

About the Opportunity
The ILA Program Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation and general administration of ILA programming for young adults at VHBG, including implementation of DSS licensing standards, VHBG policies and procedures, general programming, and financial management.

Youth are able to leave our campus to spend time with their families, attend summer camps, gain employment, and participate in other extracurricular activities. About the Opportunity
The Group Home Day Counselor is responsible for the treatment of up to 8 youth in a teaching-family home under the direction of the Group Home Manager. This position provides teaching, guidance and supervisionto youth to include overseeing physical care, development of acceptable habits and attitudes, positive behavioral supports, crisis intervention, assistance with the upkeep of the physical environment, helping youth achieve mastery of identified goals and objectives and the timely thorough completion of required documentation. Additionally, this position supports the day-to-day administration of the home and compliance with licensing regulations and thepolicies and procedures of the agency.
Core duties and responsibilities:
· Responsible for the sight and sound supervision and engagement of youth on and off-campus
· Responsible for documenting daily activities, behaviors, contacts, and interventions.
· Responsible for providing a therapeutic, family-style treatment environment for youth according to the model and standards developed in the Teaching-Family Model.
· Responsible for professional communication with teachers, parents, caseworkers, and probation offices, etc. for the youth.
· Responsible for attending bi-weekly treatment team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
· Responsible for assisting with transportation such as youth employment, athletic events, doctor's appointments, youth home visits, etc.
· Required to work Monday - Friday day time availability.
· Follows approved Behavior Support Plans for each child.
· Embraces agency commitment to open communication in both giving and receiving information and feedback.
Administrative duties and responsibilities:
· Provide general support to the Group Home Manager (GHM) as directed.
· Ensure day-to-day compliance with all routine GROUP HOME YOUTH COUNSELOR documentation (Daily Logs, MARs, Health Forms, etc.).
· Maintain Risk Management Binder, ensuring full compliance.
· Coordinate medical appointments/follow-up with nurse and/or GHM; set appointments as needed; ensure necessary paperwork is provided, received and filed accurately.
· Check and ensure each resident's point sheet for the day is completed, including: resident name, date, target skills and coping skills.
· Maintain weekly program activities calendar, ensuring alignment with the house budget.
· Physical environment: ensure home is clean, appliances/fixtures in working order; temperature for water, refrigerator and HVAC working properly.
· Conduct vehicle checklist and document accordingly.
· Ensure food supplies are sufficient to meet the needs of the posted menu (coordinate with Staff Supervisor regarding shopping/budget). Food bank pick-up.
· Ensure essential emergency supplies are available, such as first aid kits, flashlights, batteries, snow shovels, ice melt (seasonal)
· Ensure general office supplies are sufficient for operation of the home.
· Take minutes during team meetings
· Ensure vehicles have adequate gas for planned outings.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with children or adolescents
OR
An Associate's degree and 6 months experience working with children or adolescents
OR
A Bachelor's degree in a human services field and 6 months of experience working with children or adolescents.
Administrative experience preferred.
In addition, the candidate must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with driving record in good standing, must be able to successfully clear background checks associated with job, and must successfully complete in-house training.
VHBG will provide you a hiring bonus of $500 on your one month anniversary and then a retention bonus of $1,500 on the first paycheck following your first year anniversary. If your employment with VHBG is ended for any reason prior to six months of employment, the first installment will be recouped in your final paycheck.

About the Opportunity
The Group Home Youth Counselor Overnight is responsible for the treatment of up to 8 youth in the Teaching Family Home under the direction of the Group Home Manager. This position completes regular safety checks, program documentation, and facility upkeep throughout the overnight hours while residents are sleeping. During resident waking hours, this position provides teaching, guidance and supervision to youth.
Core duties and responsibilities:
· Monitor residents and facility by remaining awake during overnight hours
· Implement approved Individual Service Plans and Behavior Support Plans for each youth
· Provide a therapeutic, family-style treatment environment for youth according to the model and standards developed in the Teaching-Family Model (including overseeing physical care, helping youth develop acceptable habits and attitudes, positive behavioral supports, crisis intervention, assisting with the upkeep of the physical environment)
· Communicate professionally with clients' teachers, parents, caseworkers, and probation officers, etc.
· Transport clients if needed
· Document activities, behaviors, contacts, and interventions as they occur
· Work a two week rotating schedule
· Embrace agency commitment to open communication in both giving and receiving information and feedback.
Experience and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 6 months working with children or adolescents required. One year of experience working with youth in a group home facility is preferred. Clinical experience working with youth is preferred.
In addition, the candidate must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with driving record in good standing, must be able to successfully clear background checks associated with job, and must successfully complete in-house training.
VHBG will provide you with a sign on bonus in the gross amount of $2,000.00 subject to any deductions permitted under law. $500 sign on bonus on second paycheck, and $1,500 Retention Bonus on payroll that includes their 1-year anniversary. If your employment with VHBG is ended for any reason prior to six months of employment, the first installment will be recouped in your final paycheck.
