Machine Operation Sets up and operates conventional and numerical control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and/or nonmetallic parts. Downloads programming code through DNC system. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut or enters commands to input or edit computerized machine control code with assistance from an “A” Machinist. Sets up and operates machine on a trial basis to verify accuracy of machine settings or program code with assistance from an “A” Machinist. Studies blueprints, sketches and drawings to verify conformance of finished piece to designated tolerance specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks and coordinate measuring machine. Continuous improvement will be utilized through conferring with engineers, production personnel or programmers to facilitate the machining processes.
