Established in Richmond, Virginia just shortly after the American Civil War in 1865, the university was founded on the hope to promote education for all people, regardless of race. Virginia Union University has a deep history of dedicating its resources to uplifting the individual and acknowledging the power of education. Today, Virginia Union University continues its original goal of creating opportunities for everyone. VUU is made up of four schools: education, psychology and interdisciplinary studies; business; humanities and social sciences; and mathematics, science and technology.
