1972

Michael Tompsett, British-born physicist who worked at American Bell Laboratories, designed and built the first ever video camera with a solid-state (CCD) sensor, for which he received a patent in 1972.

1981

Smart cameras for industrial applications are introduced, based on optical mouse (first imaging device and embedded processing unit in a compact system) developed by Richard Lyons at Xerox in 1981

2001

2001 saw Al Saxon join the ownership team.

2002

In 2002, Vision won the Discovery World HQ Project, a $2.4 million assignment, ultimately upping the employee contingent to 50.

2003

After some further negotiations, the deal was done and STRATUS VISION GmbH was founded in Munich in 2003.

2004

In 2004, Vision landed the Grainger rollout, the company’s first national win, a daunting task at the time of 450 sites over nine months.

2006

First version of standard released in 2006.

FLIR introduces the FLIR GF320, 2nd generation Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) camera, a technology first introduced by FLIR Commercial Systems within the EU in 2006, and is now supplied to end user operators, service provider companies and EPA's (Environmental Protection Agencies) worldwide.

2006 saw Medimmune and Kaiser Permanente come on board, plus the Dept. of VA DAS project, Vision’s first Schedule 70 and DAS win.

2007

In 2007, Vision proudly submitted its first IDIQ (VETS GWAC – 2007) response, one of 600 proposals, ultimately resulting in wins in both functional areas.

2008

2008 opened with wins for Johns Hopkins APL and HHMI. In addition, Vision Technologies added the United States Department of Agriculture to its client roster.

2009

Next up, in 2009, Vision saw EPA ORD come on board for an 8-year, $100 million contract.

2010

BAUMER presents first cameras to contain a dual GigE interface at VISION 2010 in Stuttgart, Germany - the SXG industrial cameras.

In 2010, Vision added 3M National Infrastructure Support to its client list, a project which covered over 100 facilities, plus United Way Learning Center, Mercy Medical Center, and APG BRAC projects.

2014

Automated Imaging Association announces introduction of USB 3.0 Vision standard in January, 2014.

2017

In 2017, Vision launched a newly designed website utilizing an interactive and informative platform that promotes Vision's culture and services.

2019

After the sale of EPP GmbH in November 2019, the entire Marketing and Sales responsibility was moved to Stratus Vision GmbH.

2020

In April 2020, STRATUS VISION GmbH moved to new offices in Puchheim near Munich.
