In 2018, we entered into a partnership with United Healthcare (UHC) to provide the EyeSpy 20/20 vision screening program to schools throughout Arizona and Wisconsin. UHC provided VisionQuest 20/20 $1,000,0000 to provide the software, vision screening supplies, training, and technical support to any schools wishing to receive the program in AZ and WI. In 2017, VisionQuest 20/20 experienced a substantial reduction in staff personnel including consultants and volunteer engagement. In fact, by the end of 2017, we had no paid staff and Richard Tirendi was volunteering to serve as the CEO.In order to quickly and efficiently meet the demands of the partnership with UHC, we engaged Cloudscaper (the technology developer of EyeSpy 20/20) to provision the software licenses, distribute the supplies, support the technology, manage project logistics, maintain the data systems, and provide training on the program. This engagement was approved by UHC. The original scope of the UHC partnership was to vision screen 500,000 children during the 2018 calendar year. Upon further evaluation, UHC indicated that they wished to extend the program one additional calendar year AND provide the participating schools a non-expiring license to the program (as opposed to a single year of access). The program metrics changed from vision screenings performed to providing access to the vision screening program. This change in scope required VisionQuest 20/20 to retain significant earnings in 2018 in order to support the on-going partnership throughout 2019. This was accomplished in coordination with Cloudscaper by reducing expenditures and returning all unused monies to VisionQuest 20/20. This would afford VisionQuest 20/20 flexibility in how to manage the partnership in 2019, as opposed to forcing the organization to engage Cloudscaper. In addition to the UHC partnership, VisionQuest 20/20 continued to support the efforts of Vitalyst Health Foundation by providing the sourcing, deployment, and training of vision screening devices (not EyeSpy 20/20) for younger and special needs children. Given the reduction in personnel, VisionQuest 20/20 expended the vast majority of fiscal resources on program support and not on fund development. M & G expenditures were minimal as well. In 2018, 76,028 children were provided vision screenings using the technology provided by VisionQuest 20/20 at 240 schools in Arizona, Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania, Texas, North Dakota, South Carolina, Hawaii, Iowa, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Florida. The ages of the children served ranged from 18 months to 18 years with majority between ages of 5 years and 18 years. Of all children screened, 20,275 were referred for follow up from an eye care professional. Average testing duration was 2 minutes and 40 seconds per child. With the addition of hundreds of schools registering to receive EyeSpy 20/20 during the second half of 2018, we expect the number of vision screenings performed using EyeSpy 20/20 to increase significantly in 2019. EyeSpy 20/20 vision screening software detects distant visual acuity, depth perception and color blindness and offers ability to manually enter near visual acuity screening results for consideration when referring children for professional follow up. EyeSpy 20/20 can be configured to provide threshold or critical line visual acuity screening at distance. EyeSpy 20/20 also integrates with, and collects data from, objective, instrument-based vision screening devices. This integration affords schools the ability to use a combination of methods to determine which students need professional evaluation.VisionQuest 20/20 is a small technology company based in Phoenix, AZ with only 50 employees and an annual revenue of $499,999.
