Internship Responsibilities During this internship, you may assist with the following duties: Create, monitor, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly order forecasts for manufacturing and distribution centers. Assist in the development of production-planning strategies and activities to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet established production specifications and schedules. Work closely with Manufacturing, Distribution, and Sales Forecasting teams to develop accurate forecasting of inbound and outbound workflow. Support strategic decision-making and the improvement of critical processes such as staffing and capacity planning. Gather requirements, document, and communicate the results of efforts to cross-functional team members. Develop KPI dashboards and data models to assist in making key business decisions. Analyze various KPIs for turnaround time, capacity, productivity, and forecast accuracy to identify potential risks and report to management. Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis based upon business needs. Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements. Manage projects by monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Develop modeling techniques using machine learning and automation to assist with operational and labor planning. Preferred Skills Strong understanding and mastery of forecasting and supply chain planning processes and analytics. Experience in data analytics, modeling, simulation, and reporting. Excellent Microsoft skills, including data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and SQL. Automation tools (R, Python, etc.) a plus. Excellent process improvement, process design, and change/program management skills. Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to write routine reports and prepare influential communications (email, PowerPoint, Word). Ability to present data to different groups within the organization, including executives. Excellent mathematical skills. Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task. Analytical thinker with a desire to be continually challenged. Team player with a positive attitude. Ability to manage in a highly confidential and professional manner. Ability to initiate immediate interaction, coordination, and collaboration with team members and stakeholders.     RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for meeting all quality assurance objectives and metrics. * Lead the Operations team to identify and resolve quality issues efficiently and effectively. * Ensure compliance with customer part standards and manage all customer and internal audits. * Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant by leveraging lean tools (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, SPC, PFMEA, and root cause analysis) to eliminate waste, improve process flow, and enhance first-pass yield. * Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions that improve OEE, reduce scrap, and enhance customer satisfaction. * Champion problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 8D, and PDCA, ensuring disciplined execution and follow-up. * Validate quality processes by tracking and documenting key performance indicators and communicating results in cross-functional meetings. * Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Production to ensure customer specifications are clearly defined and consistently met. * Mentor and develop team members to drive a proactive culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement. * Investigate and address customer complaints regarding quality in a timely and structured manner. * Lead or support corrective action planning and verify implementation effectiveness. * Lead and/or participate in internal and external audits, ensuring alignment with ISO9001 standards. * Maintain evidence of conformance with applicable standards and procedures. * Lead and delegate layered audit activities within the facility to promote ownership at all levels. * Collaborate with CI and Quality peers across other Samuel plants, providing expertise, benchmarking insights, and hands-on assistance when needed to support network-wide improvement initiatives. * Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians and the Quality Supervisor to ensure departmental performance goals are met. * Provide regular coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to enhance team performance. * Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Engineering degree required; materials science or chemical engineering preferred. * 7-10 years of metals manufacturing experience preferred. * ISO auditing experience preferred. * Ability to read and use a wide range of measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, tensile testers, steel rulers, torque wrenches, hardness testers, gauge blocks, and refractometers). * Strong skill set in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. * ERP experience preferred; D365 experience an asset. * Strong mathematical, analytical, and report-writing skills. * Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) certification preferred. * Demonstrated success with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and structured problem solving. * Proven experience leading lean manufacturing or CI initiatives that delivered measurable cost, quality, or productivity improvements. * Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with diverse personalities and cultures. * Ability to adapt to changing work environments and leadership expectations. * Able to lift at least 40 lbs periodically and work in manufacturing/warehouse conditions. * Travel may be required about 10-20% of the time.
