OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is hiring a full-time registered Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology department. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. This is a large and busy Radiation Oncology department located in two locations within the hospital and requires a therapist to be on call for add on or urgent cases. Call is rotated on a weekly basis among the 11 therapists. The department consists of three Linear Accelerators and two CTs. They also provide High Dose Rate Brachytherapy in the department.
Delivers radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Prepares patients for a course of Radiation Therapy inclusive of simulation, dose calculations and acquiring of treatment parameters.

Summary:
The Lead Radiation Therapist is the supervisor over the Radiation Therapy team at Riverside Methodist Hospital Radiation Oncology.
They are responsible for maintaining adequate staff levels and making sure all the LINAC machines are well staffed. They maintain and prepare the daily schedule and the call schedule for our team. They partner with the providers and the nursing team to deliver high quality care to our patients and are the connecting link between the Radiation Therapy team and the department manager. They are responsible for addressing the immediate concerns of the radiation therapy team and escalating them when appropriate. They maintain a high quality of care by reviewing charts and making sure all the required parameters and hard stops are in place. They participate in the Quality Review Meetings and address any quality concerns with the Radiation Therapy team. They are also involved in system meetings aimed to improve the quality of care at a system level.
When not working on administrative duties, the Lead Radiation Therapist will also be involved in treatments at the LINAC or coordinate the patient appointments at the SIM CT, depending on their rotation assignment.

Summary:
This position operates imaging devices, computers, ECG units, laboratory equipment, dose calibrator and radiation survey instruments.
Responsibilities And Duties:
55%
Performs scintigraphic scanning as prescribed by physician.
25%
Performs image manipulation and quantitative studies. Archives patient studies on computer and quality control studies.

Receives, stores, and prepares radioactive and non-radioactive materials in preparation of patient doses. Assures availability of proper doses for patients.

Performs quality control and maintenance procedures for scanning; maintains quality control and wipe survey statistics. Assures all equipment is performing properly to obtain quality examinations.

Consults with physicians; shows images and/or computer patient studies to radiologist and/or cardiologist. Provides physicians with quality data for interpretation.

Administers diagnostic or therapeutic radiopharmaceutical/ pharmaceuticals limited to those within the scope of practice, through various routes to patient, under the direction of a physician.

Demonstrates sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication. Provides appropriate patient education, patient assessment, patient monitoring and overall patient care. Assists physician with intricate imaging procedures as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree (Required) ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Additional Job Description:
Graduate of approved training program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
ODH Radiologic License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
BLS Certification.
Familiarity with all aspects of a fully-equipped Nuclear Medicine department. Extensive knowledge of handling, administering radioactive materials and knowledge of nuclear instrumentation and its use. Experienced Technologist with the skills necessary to work in full service Nuclear Medicine department.
