Reporting to the Site Supervisor, leads the classroom team in providing comprehensive high-quality early education and child development services for enrolled children and families. The leadteacher receives regular on-going support from the site supervisor and the education specialist (coach) to implement the agency's curriculum that includes creating a safe and enriching environment, embedding responsive and effective teacher-child interactions, and fostering partnerships with families by respecting values, strengths, and cultures and welcoming parent's contributions and participation. What You'll Do
Bring RAFT's hands-on lessons to life, adapting activities as needed to ensure every camper is inspired and engaged.
Manage a group of up to 24 campers, fostering collaboration, fun, and respect while maintaining an organized and clean space.
Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding, professional development, and staff meetings prior to camp.
Operate with minimal supervision from the Site Director, showing initiative and flexibility throughout the day.
Supervise any assigned support staff, and share feedback during after-camp debrief sessions and surveys.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Job Description
Under general direction provided by Site Supervisor and Area Director, plan, organize, and direct daily operations of students and classroom. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is Full-Time non-exempt compensation. Head Teachers must demonstrate the ability to work as a collegial team member with respect, trust, and professionalism with co-workers. The position requires a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well with children, parents participating in the program and all NBCC staff. The position is aligned with NBCCs goals, philosophy, and agencys objectives.
Position Requirements
Adheres to all NBCC policies and procedures as mandated by Executive, Program, and/or Educational Resource Director.
In cooperation with the teaching team, maintain general housekeeping tasks (to provide and orderly, professional environment and atmosphere).
Engage in regular self-assessment/goal setting and participate in timely evaluation of job performance with the Site Supervisor and/or Area Director.
In collaboration with the Site Supervisor, conduct staff evaluations for direct reports.
In cooperation with the Site Supervisor and staff, obtain appropriate substitutes when ill, for vacation, and any other time off site for any reason.
Verify payroll, sickness and vacation time for direct reports.
Attend all scheduled NBCC Staff Development Days, staff, and planning meetings with Site Supervisor and/or Area Director, and any other NBCC events deemed appropriate or mandated.
Attends all parent education and celebratory events.
Demonstrate professional demeanor at all times.
Support the teaching team in implementing specific child behavior plans, intervention, and resource referrals accordingly.
Give warmth and positive attention to each and every child in the classroom.
Recognize and consider each child in relationship to cultural and / ethnic background, as well as respond to each unique individual child with dignity and respect. Foster positive self-esteem through respectful interactions with children and staff.
Program & Environmental Requirements
Plan and implement a variety of diverse, age-appropriate activities consistent with the philosophies of NBCC and Industry Best Practices. All activities and environmental set-up must meet the childrens individual developmental needs in their entirety (including social-emotional, cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, and physical development.
Implement curriculum and activities that support the objectives of NBCCs Culture of Health.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and inviting arrangement in all classrooms (including outside play areas) which complies with NBCCs best practices for classroom environments.
Maintain required supervision of children at all times (inside and outside) in accordance with California State Licensing regulations ratio standards.
Conduct ongoing Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) assessments on children in cooperation with the teaching team.
Utilize the Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS) and DRDPs to plan and implement curriculum.
Maintain and update classroom documents: posted classroom lesson plans, daily schedules, daily meal counts, monthly menus, classroom rosters, monthly child sign in/out sheets and ouch reports.
Report all staff and child illness and absences daily to Site Supervisor in accordance to CDE and CDC requirements.
Report to the Site Supervisor, in writing, all injuries incurred by children or staff.
In cooperation with the Program Director, Educational Resource Director, or Site Supervisor, coordinate all program activities Parent Orientations, Parent Conferences, and Parent Advisory Committees.
Develop meaningful relationships with parents through facilitation of open, responsive communication on a continual basis.
Promptly direct any relevant feedback (positive or negative issues) to the Site Supervisor in a verbal or written form.
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, implement child behavior intervention.
In cooperation with the Site Supervisor, conduct ongoing written assessments of children and participate in semi-annual parent/teacher conferences as required by CDE.
Produce a weekly/monthly newsletter informing parents of classroom activities, fieldtrips, or center related business.

Position Summary
Education for Change is looking for several dynamic and visionary Special Education teachers who will engage students, families, and other members of our learning community to ensure high student achievement. The Special Education Teacher works closely with Director of Special Education Programs and site staff to ensure the quality of the special education instructional program on the site and to act as a resource in the areas of teacher support, federal accountability, and support to students with disabilities. In addition, the Special Education Teacher assists in the training of site staff in areas of meeting the needs of students with disabilities and special education compliance. S/he engages community partners and families in serving the whole child and ensuring ALL children achieve at high levels prepared to succeed in any setting. S/he will know how to successfully work in an urban elementary school with a high English Learner and low-income population, including traumatized students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for Special Education Teachers who are highly effective in each of the following areas:
Data Driven Planning and Assessment
Work with Principal and Special Education Supervisor to develop action plans for constant learning and growth
Work with General Education staff to identify areas of need for students and appropriate targeted instruction
Assess student student data and progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. behavioral, motor development and communication skills, academic needs, vocational abilities, etc.) for the purpose of improving program effectiveness
Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Supervise the implementation of state assessments for special education students
Learning Environment
Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that ALL children can achieve at high levels and are prepared to succeed in any setting
Uses effective classroom and/or behavior management techniques to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere for all students. This includes creating appropriate room displays, bulletin boards, and/or interest/learning centers and providing a more structured token economy system when necessary.
Monitor students' behavior/activities in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
Provide for basic needs of students who, because of their disability, are not able to care for themselves including but not limited to toilet and feeding.
Assist in the containment of students, when necessary, as part of a team
Instruction
Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
Design and carry out developmentally appropriate and motivating curriculum/programming as warranted by IEP goals
Use appropriate adaptive equipment and assistive technology as recommended by related service providers to facilitate learning, communication, mobility and positioning.
Prepares standards-based lessons as appropriate for the students' level(s) of functioning and prepares schedules and timelines to implement classroom activities.
Works with general education teachers when students are mainstreamed to ensure the students are participating appropriately in their classroom.
Fully implement students' IEPs, including behavior intervention plans and accommodations/modifications of materials and curriculum.
Professional Responsibilities
Observes and makes ongoing evaluation of students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual student's progress
Plans, coordinates, and monitors the work of the instructional aide(s) in the room. Additionally, provides direction or training for the instructional aides as necessary to support the individual needs of the students in the classroom
Participates in crisis communication and de-escalation techniques to assist in maintaining student behavior. Trained at least annually in the district approved behavior management/crisis level program
Assist in planning and delivering professional development and learning experiences to teachers and school site staff
Actively seek and participate in professional development opportunities to remain current with federal and state special education guidelines
Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, local board policies, and administrative guidelines
Transport Students, as necessary
Attend mandatory new hire professional development
Support the mission, vision, and core values of Education for Change
Partnerships, Family, and Community
Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, families, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes
Communicate regularly with students and families about classroom activities and student progress
Involve students' families as partners in their students' education, eliciting information about home expectations and programs and providing resources and strategies for families to support their student's success.
Actively participate in key student events
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as certified Special Education teacher
Valid California Educational Specialist Credential authorizing service to student with Moderate/Severe disabilities
Successful experience with students with moderate to severe disabilities
Must possess a growth mindset and be able to use feedback to refine practice
Successful experience working in a collaborative environment
Experience working with diverse communities
Desired Qualifications:
Experience accelerating student learning and achievement in low-income communities
Bilingual
Experience and desire to use data and technology as levers to drive instruction
