RTs will attend deliveries and care for babies who are admitted to the NICU receiving respiratory care We have a pulmonary function lab (PFT) where RTs perform outpatient and inpatient PFTS We perform inpatient EKGs on the general care floors, occasionally outpatient (shared service with cardiology) We manage GE Carescape R860 vents, Servo I vents, Drager VN500 and HFOV NICU vents, Phillips V60, Bubble CPAP, REMstar CPAP, Smart Vest, and Airvo We perform bronchoscopy assistance with Glidescope disposable bronchs Opportunity to cross-train on EEGs, PFTs and NICU Option to participate in Annual Pulmonary Conference, Leadership Development classes, and Skills Development Courses Our team consists of approximately 50 members, 1 director, 1 supervisor, 1 NICU lead, and 2 adult lead We typically run 7 people during the day and 6-7 at night. Varies per census and acuity We cover our South Campus which has an ED, behavioral health unit and acute care rehab. 1 RT for each shift. We allow candidates to shadow our department and facility Responsibilities: RESPONSIBLE FOR: Performs patient assessments, general respiratory care procedures and protocols, arterial blood gas puncture and analysis, maintenance and management of all basic equipment, and patient education. #IND123#GD #LI-POST Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Currently enrolled in an AMA approved respiratory care program and completed one semester. Active student status must be maintained and documented. Must submit letter of recommendation from Program Director for consideration of employment. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have completed a student respiratory floor therapy rotation MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: None. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Current certification in BLS required. Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required respiratory care competencies. ACLS required post completion of second semester of respiratory care program or within 60 days of hire. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform basic respiratory care modalities under the direct supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist 2. Performs basic patient assessments 3. Initiates, manages and maintains basic oxygen delivery systems on the floors 4. Administers respiratory medications via nebulizer, MDI and DPI. 5. Performs oxygen saturation checks, exercise oximetrys and bedside pulmonary function testing. 6. Disassembles, cleans, reassembles, tests functionality, and packages durable supplies. 7. Performs inventory and replenishes Respiratory Care supplies in designated areas. 8. Perform other inventory and respiratory equipment responsibilities under the direction of the lead respiratory therapist. 9. Replenishes, organizes and monitors medical gases KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work as a member of a team.
