About the role:
As Skydio brings drones to the portfolio of modern infrastructure, many of our customers require installation and management of their drone docking stations on private or secure networks. Skydio sells a self-hosted version of the cloud offering that customers can install on their own hardware.
This is a customer-facing role where you'll be directly involved, helping customers learn to fly for the first time, manage their new software stack, integrate the stack with the rest of their ecosystem, and support them when they run into issues. You'll be providing support remotely or in-person, and should expect to travel about 40% of the time.

We are looking for you to be a linux system expert for the deployment engineering team. The deployment engineering team primarily focuses on being deep experts in UAS systems and wireless technologies, and you'll be a crucial value-add to the team's ability to communicate and work with our customer's IT teams as we navigate corporate firewalls and infosec policies.
How you'll make an impact:
Support Skydio customers with our self-hosted products.
Assist the customer in planning and writing integrations between their internal systems and our drone management software.
Debug and troubleshoot outages, wherever and whenever they occur.
Build out our on-prem lab in California, including organizing the hardware, building trial-and-evaluation flyaway kits, and testing.
Be a key member of the product team, informing the form factors and menu of options for our on-prem offerings.
What makes you a good fit:
4+ years experience with Linux system administration, including host configuration, patching, networking, and debugging typical system health issues.
Experience with building and racking servers. Mostly applicable to our in-house lab.
Coding experience: working knowledge of REST APIs or similar API boundaries and experience working with customers to implement and test integrations (basic scripting, testing, documentation).
Comfortable communicating directly with customers.
US Person required for working at US government facilities.
Ability to travel 40% of the time.
Ability to acquire Part 107 certificate (for flying UAS)
Nice to have:
Experience in areas such as Mapping, Surveying, Photogrammetry in the Utilities or Public Safety industries.
Experience working with physical systems, such as building your own drones or maintaining other IOT devices.
Experience with corporate firewalls, such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, or Meraki.
