What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree - English, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or Journalism preferred
A minimum of 5 years of experience in writing/developing proposals in response to owner RFPs/RFQs in the engineering field
Aptitude for managing multiple, concurrent proposals from pre-advertisement through submission, working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ability to write clearly and succinctly with a high-level of accuracy, using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
Professional interpersonal skills with ability to work with colleagues at all levels of the organization
Must be detail oriented and self-motivated
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; graphics skills and programs a plus
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and Deltek is strongly desired

The successful candidate will perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in the administration of highway construction. What you'll be doing:
Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering-related data; and construction survey/layout
Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolves daily constructability issues and trouble shoots problems to mitigate delays to contractor's progress
Monitors contractor's daily operations and performs and/or reviews test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
Anticipates contractual problems and advises supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
Ensures compliance with NC Sedimentation and Pollution Control Act, and that all work performed in permitted areas, is done in accordance with the permits
Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects
What you need to have:
Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution
0 - 2 years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations

We are currently seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join our Transportation Planning Service Group in Raleigh, NC.
RS&H has a strong Transportation Planning practice nationally across the southeast and Texas, including Charlotte, NC. The Senior Transportation Planner will work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and must have excellent communication, data management, and documentation skills. This position will serve as a Project Manager, taking a leadership role in management, production, and quality assurance/quality control procedures. In addition to working with existing clients on the state, regional, and local levels, the candidate will support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new clients to grow our existing practice.
The Senior Transportation Planner will bring innovative solutions to our client's problems and lead transportation planning projects of varying size and scope.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field from an accredited university. Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field from an accredited university preferred.
AICP or Certification preferred.
10+ years of progressive transportation planning experience, with at least 5 years of project management experience.
NCDOT, MPO, and municipal client experience preferred.
Ability to lead associates with varying levels of technical and professional experience to support the local practice development.
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Facilitation skills with leading public engagement and stakeholder meetings.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management.
Ability to grow the transportation planning practice in NC and support other initiatives, including both projects and staff
Experience in business development efforts, including preparing proposals and leading marketing efforts.

Proficiency in reading and understanding utility installation and adjustment plans.

What you'll be doing:
Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects including roadway design plans, traffic management plans, signing and delineation plans, utilities coordination, utilities design, roadway drainage, and erosion control plans.

Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates
Participate in the collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs

What you need to have:

5 - 15 years of experience in roadway design
Proficient with OpenRoads, MicroStation/Geopak, and/or Autodesk Civil 3D

Basic Qualifications:

NCDOT and municipality client experience is preferred.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Proficiency in reading and understanding civil transportation engineering design plans.
* Proficiency in reading and understanding utility installation and adjustment plans.
* Ability to transition easily between multiple projects and tasks.
* Basic MicroStation/Open Roads experience (required).
* Position requires strong communication, both verbal and written, organization skills, attention to detail, scheduling and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will have experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports. Work will be statewide based on assignments and needs of NCDOT and will require traveling for out-of-town assignments. The field work requires work in situations that are hazardous in their nature such as traffic congestion, working on slopes, climbing of high steel, working in confined areas, and working above water on scaffolds or the snooper crane at considerable heights.
What you'll be doing:
Advanced level in-depth safety inspection work as the Team Leader of a 2 man bridge inspection team that conducts inspection on all types of structures in North Carolina
Work in an outside environment at considerable heights, exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants
Safety shoes will be required as a condition of employment
Responsible for carrying out in-depth inspections on bridges, light standards, culverts, pipes, sign supports, & overhead walkways and preparation of reports detailing conditions found during the inspection process. These reports are used in an evaluation process that determines the structural integrity and the capability of structures to support loads imposed on them by the traveling public and/or natural forces.
Training new inspectors, scheduling, and plans the team's activities in conformance with bridge priorities
Leading a team of inspectors in the field during inspections
Scheduling and coordinating inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, maintenance of traffic
Operating access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections
What you need to have:
The successful candidate will have experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports. Candidates should possess a strong working knowledge of NBIS and have advanced writing and communication skills.
Must have NBIS Bridge Inspection Course
NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader
NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses preferred but not required
EIT or P.E. license preferred but not required
In-State Travel required
