To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field and 3 years of prior experience with structural drafting.
What you'll be doing:
Provide assistance to engineers using OpenBridge Designer to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects
Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer
Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
Research design options and documents findings
Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Be a team player and assist other groups as needed
What you need to have:
Associate degree from a technical or four-year school

Your Role & Responsibilities:
Autonomy & Leadership: With the support of your fellow employee owners, including company leadership, and direct access to a comprehensive learning and development program, you will lead the local highway design team while serving as a senior project manager on large, complex transportation projects. You will oversee and mentor multi-disciplined teams and ensure high-quality project outcomes.

Client & Team Communication: You will maintain strong client relationships as the client relationship manager and point of contact throughout a project's lifecycle. What You Need to Succeed:
Professional Engineering License: You are a licensed professional engineer in Texas, or can obtain reciprocity within six months, holding a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a similar discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
Experience: You bring 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, managing and mentoring large multi-disciplined teams working on complex projects with a construction value of ≥ $20M.
Project & Team Management: You have project management experience with conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for TxDOT and Texas municipal clients.
Local Expertise: You have project experience in Texas, which has taught you policies and procedures associated with managing highway design, alternative delivery, and/or general engineering contracts for TxDOT.
Client Partnership: You understand your client's goals, provide thoughtful options, advise on challenging decisions, and act as a reliable partner, proactively communicating to address challenges before they arise.
Organizational Skills & Focus on Quality: You are dedicated to delivering industry-leading products and ensuring effective quality control processes. Your incredible organizational skills and attention to detail support your quality control/management. Technical Proficiency: You have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for day-to-day operations, including emails, budgeting, and presentations. Goals and Objectives:
Lead the highway team, including client management, project development, financial performance and revenue growth, backlog balancing through utilization and workshare, and associate mentorship and growth.
Grow and lead high-performance teams in areas of: continuing a culture of excellence and innovative thinking; finding and vetting new talent who add value to project teams; overseeing technical training, mentoring, and learning.
Lead business development in the local transportation market to provide growth and sustained backlog, including management of client relationships for loyalty, long-term engagement, and lifetime retention.
Responsible for project performance and execution, including oversight of Design Teams through mentorship and project leadership. Additional responsibilities include monitoring labor budgets and schedules for assigned tasks/projects; coordinating with key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications; meeting project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects; and supporting marketing and business development initiatives.
Work collaboratively with leadership to develop goals, growth plans, and implement strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
ABET accredited Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
Master of Science in civil engineering degree or Master of Business Administration preferred, but not required.
Minimum 12 years of experience in Civil design, at least 8 in highway and roadway related facilities
Experience working on interstate, interchange, and roadway construction for state and county clients
Texas PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting
Effective team-focused associate that will foster teamwork, help set priorities, and define expectations
Strong supervisory skills and record of leading design teams
Good organization and motivation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to travel across the region to existing/potential Transportation Clients
Ability to win roadway/highway work as the Prime Firm project manager

Required Qualifications:

As a member of the ESR group, this individual will lead environmental compliance activities, direct junior staff and help other engineering project managers and professionals identify and resolve environmental compliance challenges associated with large building and infrastructure programs as well as ongoing client operations. This individual will be part of the ESR market segment providing environmental stewardship, sustainability and resilience planning, permitting, and consulting services to Aviation, Transportation, DoD, Municipal and private clients nationally.
The candidate must have a strong understanding of environmental regulations affecting a variety of facilities with specialty industrial operations (e.g., airports, ports, transportation, and DoD facilities) and have a broad skill set and demonstrated experience in the following areas: Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Air Act (CAA) regulations, Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements and associated state programs regulations and requirements. Additionally, experience in emerging contaminant (i.e., PFAS) planning, investigation, regulatory negotiations associated with redevelopment, the ability to collaborate with redevelopment planners and engineers, owners representatives and associated contractors will be a strong area of focus.
Critical to the success of this role is a passion for helping client's meet their compliance obligations while maintaining operational flexibility, cost sensitivity and a keen focus on quality of work products. Applicants must be experienced in developing, nurturing, and leveraging key relationships, both internally and externally, to build business, and in building, training and mentoring staff to support client needs. Experience interfacing and negotiating with state and federal regulatory agencies on behalf of clients is required. A commitment to quality is paramount. Responsibilities include:
Leading project teams to provide timely, exceptional quality project deliverables related to environmental permitting and compliance
Effective project management to ensure efficient task performance and timely delivery of work products
Providing technical leadership on complex regulatory issues
Ensuring all work products meet quality standards and client expectations
Employing strategic approaches for identifying target clients and winning projects
Leveraging and developing relationships to build long-term business partnerships in key industry sectors
Maintaining effective relationships with regulatory personnel

Accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental sciences / natural resources, environmental engineering or related field
