The Schedule:
Weekday and weekend morning hours approximately 9 a.m.-12 noon (about 80% of our hours)
Weekday afterschool/evenings hours approximately 3-7 p.m. (about 20% of our hours)
Schedules will vary with holidays, school closures and seasonality.

Job Description:
Garfield Heights City Schools is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Middle School Wrestling Head Coach to lead and develop the wrestling program at the middle school level. The Head Coach will be responsible for providing instruction in wrestling fundamentals, fostering student-athlete growth, and promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic accountability. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical wrestling knowledge, and a passion for mentoring young athletes as they prepare for higher levels of competition.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Mentorship: Provide positive leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and respect.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:
26. Helps Head Coach organize parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings.
27. Promotes the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program and promotes the sport outside the school through news media, little league programs, or in any other feasible manner.
28. Helps Head Coach in maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.

*Assumes responsibility for the team at the middle school level.
*Attends activities and scouting assignments as assigned by
the Head Coach.
*Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her

-Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials
and visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should
be shown to their dressing rooms.
-Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season-
all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching
staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund.
-Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless
excused by the Athletic Administrator.
-Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving
his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an
extenuating circumstance.
-Keeps expenditures within the budget.
-Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and
sports have on athletes. The Head Coach must approach
the task of coaching at all times with the thought in mind that
what one says and does, both desirable and undesirable,
has tremendous consequence upon the actions and
reactions of the young adults.

Meet all of the requirements set forth by the District Athletic Department, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification (CTC) and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Model the behavior that is expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times.
Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OSHAA.
Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State-Tournament Games.
Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents.
Maintains accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Qualifications:
Fundraising experience.
Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
Previous High School Coaching Experience preferred.
Have ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
Work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Training/Certifications:
Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will:
• Follow the direction and philosophy set forth by the Club with the main focus on individual player development
• Have the ability to coach both male and female players, the technical and tactical side of the 4 game models 5v5, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11
• Lead team training sessions and in game coaching whilst encouraging a competitive and inclusive team environment
• Game scheduling and team administration
• Assisting the Club in identifying players and forming teams at Tryouts, twice annually
• Coaches are required to participate in educational programs such as clinics and Club meetings and assist the Club with seasonal Age Group Training
Required Skills:
• Previous coaching experience is required
