The Alaska SeaLife Center, located in Seward, Alaska is recruiting RVers for the 2023 season. RV camping spaces come with full hook-ups and a million dollar view of Resurrection Bay mere steps from our front door.RV volunteers can fill any of the following positions:
+ Greeters are an important part of the Visitor Experience Team at the Center. Greeters welcome our guests to the Center by giving them an overview of our exhibits and answering various questions about the Center. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with public speaking, enjoys interacting with others, will ensure excellent and memorable experiences for our guests, and has an enthusiasm for the Center and its mission.
+ Ticketing is responsible for Front of House Reservations and Ticketing functions, Customer Service and Sales of all admission, tours, encounters, as well as visitor information capture and completion of the annual Visitor Survey. We are looking for someone who enjoys customer service.
+ Interpretation w ill assist with directions and answer guest questions as they tour the Center. May give informal talks and programs about various animals. Potentially lead Behind the Scene programs. We are looking for someone who loves to communicate with a diverse group of people of all ages.
+ Grounds w ill help to maintain the professional appearance of the Center and grounds by cleaning, mowing, raking, edging, weeding and trimming. We are looking for someone who is interested in working outdoors and not afraid to get dirty.
+ Custodial w ill be responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the building and grounds at the Alaska SeaLife Center . We are looking for someone with great attention to detail and loads of initiative.
Before volunteering you will participate in training and receive additional information about this position.
Applicants must be able to provide their own camping unit. An RV site will be provided on the shores of beautiful Resurrection Bay in the RV parking lot for the Alaska SeaLife Center and includes water, electricity, and sewer. In exchange, the Center asks for a minimum of 20 hours of volunteering per week per adult. Preference will be given to those who can commit to staying for the entire or most of the summer season. Our summer season runs from mid-May to mid-September. All volunteer positions will be subject to a background check.

Volunteers are required to complete all required processing prior to beginning service with students.
Volunteers serve under the direct supervision of a certified staff member at all times.
The supervising staff member will define the responsibilities of the volunteer.
Application and Selection Steps:
Apply Online: Complete and submit the online Volunteer application.
Contact Site Administration: Contact the school where you applied to serve and let them know your application is complete.
Electronic Request for Processing Sent by Campus: The school/department must complete an electronic form (a Volunteer PAR) requesting that we process you, and submit it to Human Resources. You will not be contacted for processing until we receive this information.
Processing Appointment: Volunteers cannot be processed as "drop-ins." A Human Resources Specialist will contact you to set a processing appointment when all steps are completed. Processing includes being fingerprinted as a volunteer at no cost to you. If you have a DPS fingerprint clearance card, please notify HR when you are called for the appointment. This will expedite processing. You will need to bring a photo ID when you come to HR for your appointment to be processed.
Fingerprints: Fingerprints are sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety for processing. Processing takes anywhere from four to six weeks. Please note that you are not cleared to be on campus until your fingerprint report is returned by DPS!
Work Permit: Upon receipt of a clean background report from DPS, a Work Permit is issued and sent electronically to campus or department administration. At that time, you are cleared to be on campus.
Please remember that your Work Permit is valid for one school year, from the date of approval through June 30. Your school/department must update your request to volunteer annually, but re-fingerprinting is not required.
