YOUR IMPACT
Under the general supervision of the Shelter Services Operations Manager, all Shelter Resident Specialists (also known as Program Aides) regardless of status (Temporary to Regular; On Call to Full Time) coordinate the orderly operation of Samaritan House's Shelter Services Sites and facilitate the delivery of quality services to clients. This position also works with vendors and community support services to support the Agency's Shelter Services program needs and the needs of our clients. Samaritan House Shelter Services Program has three Shelter Sites- Safe Harbor Shelter located in South San Francisco, El Camino House located in San Mateo and Pacific Emergency Services located in Redwood City. Safe Harbor Shelter is a 90-bed congregate shelter for homeless adults. Pacific Emergency Services is a 70+ Room non-congregate Hotel Shelter Program. El Camino House is a 45+ room non-congregate Hotel Shelter Program. Our clients in our programs include individuals experiencing various forms of crisis, including some of whom have substance abuse problems and/or mental illness. Samaritan House Shelter Services seek to provide the assistance clients need to regain their self-sufficiency. Shelter Resident Specialists (also known as Program Aides) are responsible for assuring delivery of excellent services, the security and safety of clients as well as safe environments including our properties, facilities and building during each assigned shift. Each Shelter Resident Specialist/Program Aide will follow a specified set of protocols to ensure all assigned tasks are completed throughout each shift. All Shelter Services employees regardless of role must have flexible schedules to support the 24/7 operations of the program- this includes Day Swing and Grave Shifts. All Program Aides work in teams of two or more depending on shift and need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Resident Client Customer Service Delivery:
Ensure the delivery of excellent, values driven and high-quality customer service in all aspects of the program. Deliver all service with a demonstrated commitment to treat clients, volunteers, and co-workers in a kind, compassionate manner at all times in all business dealings.
Troubleshoot client needs, requests and concerns in a timely manner. Respond to the needs of clients and listen to their concerns or inquiries. Redirect when needed. Manage any situations that arise, acting professionally, appropriately and within professional boundaries to resolve problems.
Shelter Safety and Risk Management:
Safely respond to and assist with the management of any emergencies/accidents/incidents including but not limited to accidents, fire, police, client medical emergency, client interpersonal issues etc.
Maintain safe shelter property and program environment (inside, outside) and storage areas in a clean, safe condition including all appliances and alarm system (with maintenance).
Perform minor shelter repairs and maintenance. Conduct walk-through tours with Shelter Operations Manager of the facility to identify needed repairs and maintenance requiring shelter staff or facilities support.
Know the current disaster plan for the shelter unit. Participate with the Shelter “safety team” maintaining and knowing how to execute a site's emergency plan. Participate in evaluation of emergencies as needed.
Participate with all fire, health, and other needed facility inspections including fire drills at Shelter Sites as requested.
Shelter Services Activities:
Perform Client Onboarding - which includes client Intakes and orientations of the program. Educate, guide and explain to residents' rules and procedures of the program.
Support any shelter service site and position as assigned and participate in all aspects of program delivery as requested.
Conduct hourly inspections of assigned client personal space (house, room, bed, etc.). Post status for clients. Report to staff the condition of the client's personal space.
Maintain, store, organize and distribute shelter supplies. Ensure adequate, labeled supplies of food, clean linens, towels, clothing, cleaning supplies, personal care/hygiene products, furniture, and equipment for clients, facility and the office. Shop for all needed food items as requested by supervisor.
Perform head counts and during Grave Shift ensure two headcounts are completed.
Assist with training, guidance and supervision of volunteers and related projects that support shelter operations.
Ensure clients adhere to Shelter Services Policies, Protocols and Regulations according to internal agency and program policies. Administer warning notices to clients as needed.
Supervise chores and clean-up daily.
Participate in Community Outreach as needed.
Support Case Managers with bed/room count and roll ups as needed.
Maintain and update bus tickets spreadsheet.
Ensure clean working facilities of offices, meeting rooms and kitchens.
Perform End of Shift duties including Shelter Cleanup and status updates with incoming staff before shift ends.
Shelter Administrative Support:
Conduct all work within professional boundaries without exception.
Conduct all work with reliable attendance and punctuality following agency and department policies- work assigned schedule and show up to work on time. Follow Agency policies for PTO and calling out sick.
Perform Shelter front desk reception work including monitoring desk, monitoring safety, facility entrances, phone management, taking messages or redirecting calls/visitors to appropriate party.
Support client intakes.
Receive, Record and Coordinate in kind donations as needed. Inventory donated items and send records of contributions to the Shelter Operations Manager for acknowledgement. Ensure the in-kind donation policy is followed and no one takes such donations outside of the approval policy. Notify Manager if any constituent taking in kind donations of any type without supervisor approval.
Assist Manager and Department staff with administrative duties as needed. Complete any special projects assigned for Shelter Services. This includes but not limited to creation and maintenance of documents as well as assisting with reports.
Deliver excellent customer service to all agency constituents including but not limited to visitors, vendors, volunteers, staff, clients, donors.
Ensure timely and informed communication with Manager at all times.
Pick up mail from post office as assigned.
Order office or program supplies as needed.
Report and complete incident reports within 24 hours. Review incident report(s) with Manager immediately.
Support other agency activities and special events where needed. Attend trainings and meetings assigned.
Perform other duties as requested.

CORA's mission is to provide safety, support and healing for individuals who experience abuse in an intimate relationship, and educate the community to break the cycle of domestic violence.
CORA is the only agency in San Mateo County with the sole purpose of serving victims/survivors of domestic violence/abuse. POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Manager is a key member of our development team, responsible for the comprehensive management of our volunteer and in-kind giving program. This includes the strategic planning, recruitment, training, scheduling, and retention of a dedicated volunteer workforce. Additionally, this position implements the stewardship of in-kind giving for the agency. This role is within the Development Department of the agency and is integral to the engagement of community stakeholders in supporting the agency through the gifts of time and in-kind gifts. The ideal candidate is a passionate leader with strong organizational skills who can create a supportive and engaging environment for our volunteers, ensuring their efforts align with and amplify the mission of CORA.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Engagement
Identify program, board and outreach needs across the agency for volunteer and in-kind support.
Design, develop and implement creative strategies to recruit a diverse range of new volunteers/ in-kind donors. This includes the development of clear meaningful volunteer service descriptions.
Build partnerships with schools, faith-based organizations, corporate partners and civic organizations. In collaboration with Dev Team, promote volunteer and in-kind giving through social media and website.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer and in-kind giving inquiries.
Conduct volunteer orientation sessions, intake interviews, screening and background check processes for new volunteers.
Create and manage schedules for volunteers across ongoing programs and special events.
Provide ongoing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to volunteers to ensure a successful and rewarding experience/ address and resolve conflicts or issues that may arise among volunteers.
Volunteer Maintenance and Recognition
Act as a resource for staff members who work with volunteers, offering training and best practices for effective collaboration.
Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities, such as newsletters, thank-you notes, awards, and appreciation events.
Gather and act on volunteer feedback to continuously improve the program.
Tracking and Reporting
Manage volunteer database in Bloomerang and through EmpowerDB and Excel to track hours, assignments, and volunteer records.
Oversee in-kind donation receipts and ensure correct processing with finance team.
Track and report on key volunteer and in-kind metrics, such as hours served, retention rates, and program impact, to stakeholders and the board.
Provide regular updates to leadership on the status and effectiveness of the volunteer and in-kind program.
Qualifications
Experience: 2 years' experience in volunteer program coordination or a related role within the nonprofit sector is preferred.
Education: AA or bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Skills:
Comfort in speaking to groups in public forums.

EDMO's summer team members spend 6 weeks of summer connecting with kids, honing leadership skills, and making a real impact - all while rocking wacky costumes and getting pied in the face! Our summer positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents and dive deeper into existing talents. Spend your summer pursuing your goals and developing invaluable, transferrable professional skills (including problem solving, management, and coaching).
The Site Assistant is the life line of camp, training on and being ready to hold any position that camp has to offer including Camp Director. Leading up to camp, Site Assistants will train on every role that camp has to offer. Once summer begins, Site Assistants are responsible for filling in wherever they are needed. When they are not subbing for a camp role, they will assist the Camp Director with operational oversight pertaining to their assigned location with a focus on coaching and mentoring other site staff. In addition to a full time summer component, this job includes a part-time spring component that includes training and preparation for camp.

Participating in any pre-camp training, professional development, or in season meetings
Subbing for any role needed including Counselor, Instructor and Camp Director

This program requires:
Must be 18 years of age; Previous satisfactory experience working with groups of students;
Successful completion of the Instructional Assistant Exam coordinating with academic level required for the position (May waive requirement with proof of Bachelor's degree with coursework primarily in English, AA degree or completion of 48 college- level units).

Qualifications:

Job Description
INTRODUCTION
Under general supervision, the Probation Assistant position provides para-professional support to Deputy Probation Officers and/or civilian personnel by monitoring clients to ensure compliance with conditions of their probation and release and providing recommendations for action on assigned cases. This class is responsible for significant interaction with clients and collateral agencies to conduct general inquiries and provide information.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
The Probation Assistant is a non-sworn para-professional position. This class is unique in that it provides technical support to the Deputy Probation Officers; and performs such duties with some degree of latitude and independence. This class encompasses a wide range of duties and responsibilities, from beginning through the fully experienced journey level, and performs assignments that require a medium degree of ability and initiative as experience is gained. Class 8529 duties may be performed under the direction of Class 8444/8530 Deputy Probation Officers, supervising sworn personnel or Chief Clerk and Principal Clerk personnel.

MAJOR, IMPORTANT, AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive list. An 8529 Probation Assistant may be assigned to any one of three units within the department at any time.
1. Serve as liaison to collateral agencies including, but not limited to, the courts, DA's office, schools, social services, mental health and other treatment providers, and local law enforcement agencies; research and retrieve documents requested by the court regarding records disposition and conditions of probation; may represent the department at community group meetings.
2. Locate and communicate with clients by telephone and in the office to gather factual information required for the terms of their probation, prepare referrals to available services and verify payment of court-imposed fines, restitution and child support; conduct client drug testing and maintain the chain of custody of information; transport clients to a variety of non-custodial locations.
3. Gather information from victims (who may be individuals, corporations, small businesses, the City of San Francisco, etc.) to determine restitution for pre-sentence investigations. Submit restitution reports for Court probation matters, complete judicial council forms and maintain case notes.
4. Update information in the criminal justice and case management systems on the verification of program completion/participation; update departmental databases with changes to contact information, services provided, and resources used.
5. Provide administrative support to Probation Officers and civilian personnel.
6. Perform Client checks-ins for clients visiting the Community Assessment and Service Center (CASC) for services, resources, and visits with the Probation Officers. This may entail metal detection screening, client bag checking, assisting clients with locker usage; searching for clients in the CASC Access database; entering client information and visit purpose into the CASC database, which tracks client traffic into the CASC.
7. Interact with and support clients visiting the CASC with various needs such as, but not limited to, breakfast, lunch, and food bag distribution, helping clients get to the correct on-site services or groups/classes, and answering questions clients may have regarding available services and resources.
8. Train new or reassigned probation assistants and may act as a backup to other units.
9. Process and sort incoming/outgoing mail and deliveries; operate office equipment and/or machinery. Utilize the CTAG case management system.
10. Perform related duties as required.

You must have an appropriate combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet the total qualification requirements for the GS-05 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. The Site Assistant is the life line of camp, training on and being ready to hold any position that camp has to offer including Site Director. Leading up to camp, Site Assistants will train on every role that camp has to offer. Once summer begins, Site Assistants are responsible for filling in wherever they are needed. When they are not subbing for a camp role, they will assist the Site Director with operational oversight pertaining to their assigned location with a focus on coaching and mentoring other site staff.
