Degree titles that are not an exact match will not be considered outside of the equivalency process.
The equivalency review is an independent process for district wide disciplines that is separate from the recruitment process to fill a vacancy. A subcommittee of discipline experts that is coordinated by an Academic Senate President will review the equivalency materials and make a recommendation as to whether or not the applicant demonstrated they have qualifications that are equivalent to those shown in the minimum qualifications section of the job posting. For disciplines that are unique to a specific campus the equivalency may be done by the hiring committee along with an Academic Senate President. Please be aware that the hiring committee may not be able to wait for the results from the equivalency review due to various time constraints and may need to move forward with the recruitment process.
For further details regarding equivalency and the criteria by which equivalency may be granted, please review VCCCD Board Policy 7211 and VCCCD Administrative Policy 7211. SELECTION PROCESS
If a vacancy in this discipline becomes available the applications in this pool will be reviewed by the hiring department. Only complete application packets that include the required documents and that meet the minimum qualifications (or that have been determined to possess equivalent qualifications) will be reviewed. The candidates deemed most qualified for the position will be invited to an interview. When completing the application and the supplemental questions, it is important to outline in detail your education, training (classes, seminars, workshops), and experience. JA Finance Park Program Facilitator - Part-Time
Junior Achievement of Southern Ca 2.9
Volunteer job in Los Angeles, CA
Part-time Finance Park Facilitators, JA Finance Park
This position will host the student JA Finance Park simulation experience, emcee the event for the day, train participating volunteers upon arrival in the morning, and assist with cleanup at the end of the simulation. The position is responsible for ensuring high-quality experiences for students, volunteers, and teachers.
Summary:
The JA Finance Park Program is designed to teach students how to budget, manage their money, and plan financial goals. The program includes an in-classroom curriculum delivered by the class teachers, followed by an in-person live simulation at our JA Finance Park facility, located in our headquarters office in Burbank. During the simulation, students are led in small groups by volunteers, who randomly assign them adult avatars and personas for the day, including profession, monthly income, existing debts, and family members. Students must research monthly expenses for their assigned persona, set a budget for themselves, and then determine if they can meet that budget when faced with simulated consumer choices. The facilities replicate a commercial downtown environment, featuring branded simulation “storefronts” that represent real banks, retailers, and entertainment providers from the local Los Angeles community. Students leave our JA Finance Park program with a deeper understanding of the actual cost of living, including hidden expenses, and the importance of completing their education and securing a good job to prepare for their futures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Set up the facility room on days with student visits. Must arrive before the anticipated volunteer arrival time to prepare the room and be present to greet and welcome the volunteers. Check volunteers in for official record-keeping purposes.
Prepare and organize student materials based on anticipated student and volunteer participation numbers, and be ready to adjust when there is a last-minute or unexpected change in those numbers.
Welcome and train the volunteers upon arrival, generating enthusiasm. Deliver scripted volunteer training and help volunteers feel prepared for the simulation. Provide excellent customer service to our volunteer base.
Emcee and manage the student experience for the day, including motivating and inspiring the students to see the potential of their future, keeping the simulation segments on time, and managing the overall flow and excitement of the day.
Coordinate and communicate safety and logistical procedures with visiting teachers and chaperones.
Manage the digital program flow of the tablet-based aspects of the simulation and respond to technical problems that students or volunteers need help with as they come up.
Facilitate the volunteer debrief session at the end of the simulation, to allow volunteers the opportunity to share about their experience and program feedback.
Clean up the JA Finance Park facility after the program has been completed: wipe down and store student tablets, organize student materials, identify and report inventory needs, and ensure the facility looks clean and presentable.
Provide any information, feedback, or summaries to the Director of Experiential Learning Centers as requested.
Assist JA team members with any marketing or grant reporting data that must be completed during a JA Finance Park session per funding requirements (for example, if a funder requested pictures, quotations, or anything else specific to their funding, be ready to assist team members who request your help in accomplishing those deliverables. Your help may be needed for tasks such as distributing or collecting any handouts or forms for students or volunteers.
Scheduling:
The scheduled shifts are typically Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and will be offered to meet programming needs, as there are no guaranteed minimum weekly hours or set schedule.
When accepting a shift, you must accept the whole shift from set-up through clean-up.
You will be offered shifts based on the selected days on which you communicate your availability. We will make all attempts to provide a 2- to 4-week notice of scheduling requests, and we ask that you confirm your ability to accept scheduled days as early as possible. We also ask that you provide at least 48 hours' notice at any time that you must cancel a previously scheduled shift, whenever feasible
