    The Power Plant Assistant provides daily support to operations by maintaining the cleanliness of the plant and assists activities of the mechanical maintenance crew. This is a full-time hourly position located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This position requires UWUA Local 369 Union membership and reports to the Maintenance Manager. The hourly rate for this position is $42.62. Responsibilities Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies. Sweep, wash, wax, polish, dust or wipe walls, floors, desks, cabinets, lavatories, etc. Keep designated areas adjacent to buildings, such as sidewalks and drives, free from ice, snow, water, or refuse. Properly dispose of waste such as paper, cardboard, and garbage. Separate recyclable materials for pickup. Water, cut and trim grass and shrubbery. Keep the immediate work area safe and neat; ensure the work area is safe and clean at thecompletion of the workday. Report any unusual conditions. Utilize Maximo to perform all related PM's & Workorders and Support. Under general supervision, alone or with the assistance of other employees perform basic maintenance functions as assigned. Participate in various training programs to help support all maintenance functions. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an industrial or electrical generation location. Other Qualifications Must be able to work close to operating equipment safely and without interruption of service. Have a good safety record. Must be willing to take and perform orders intelligently and to work harmoniously with other employees. Possess basic computer literacy. Physical Requirements Must submit to a company provided physical and drug screening as part of the pre-employment screening process. Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company. Standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and grating, working from elevated platforms, scaffolding or ladders, required to lift up to and including 50 pounds and maneuver up to and including 100 pounds. Must qualify to wear a respirator. Ability to tolerate confined spaces, including manholes and varying temperatures and weather conditions. Exposed to temperature extremes, high noise level areas, high pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty/dirty environment. Required to wear PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection.

About This Position Mass Audubon's Boston Nature Center is a beautiful urban 67-acre wildlife sanctuary in the heart of Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, with a nature center, community gardens and two miles of trails. Routine volunteer projects include trail maintenance, landscaping, gardening, invasive plant removal, and habitat restoration.
