Volunteer Recruitment and Training
· Work with the Volunteer Manager and Coordinator of the House on intern and volunteer recruitment, management, and retention activities.

· Conduct an ongoing assessment of volunteer needs and respond to requests for volunteers.
· Present Francis House programs and opportunities available to prospective volunteers at various community events.

· Receive and process volunteer applications and facilitate appropriate matches based on volunteer interest/experience areas.
Volunteer Management and Appreciation

· Monitor volunteer schedule on VolunteerHub and look for shifts that need filling. Call or email volunteers for help filling shifts.
· Ensure that volunteers are meeting mission values in their interactions.
· Provide training on relevant topics related to volunteer area focus such as kitchen and reception procedures, any policy and procedure updates, and program-specific training on an ongoing basis.
· Assist with designing and implementing volunteer recognition programs.
· Assist with organizing volunteer appreciation events and annual appreciation of activities for Volunteer Appreciation Month.
· Assist with writing and distributing a regular volunteer newsletter and ensure ongoing communication with volunteers through periodic emails as necessary.
· Assist with organizing regular volunteer meetings and informational sessions.
Record-keeping and Publicity Related
· Maintain required databases for volunteers and interns.
· Provide reports of volunteer data and impact to staff and board as requested.
· Ensure events are documented and photographs taken for future agency communications and collect all photo release forms.
· Assist with documenting stories of volunteer impact for promotions.
Accountability and Support Functions
· Comply with all health and safety requirements of federal, state and local laws.
· Maintain organization and client confidentiality at all times.
· Fill in for volunteer shifts if a volunteer is unavailable, including evenings, and assist with other duties/tasks as needed.
· Attend in-house training and informational conferences, as requested.
· Participate as a team member in all staff meetings and House events and activities.
· Work with Volunteer Manager to complete department Monthly Goals Update.
· Attend weekly Department meetings led by Coordinator of the House.
· Regularly round throughout the day to support volunteers in each area. Inquire about their needs, any concerns and any potential issues that need to be addressed in and around the house.
Education and Experience:
· Associate's degree in human services or related field; and/or
· Three to five years of experience working with volunteers is preferred.
· Experience and high comfort level with technology.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel is expected. Experience with Constant Contact, VolunteerHub, Canva, Check, PowerPoint, Meal Train, Monday and Microsoft Teams and social media platforms are a plus.
· Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Marginal Duties
• The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as an ambassador for Scenic Hudson by engaging local organizations and the public through growing and distributing fresh produce, hosting public events, community-science, learn-and-serve projects, and other programmatic activities. Much of this will be done as part of a small team, some with volunteers and some independently. Position requires travel with a personal vehicle throughout the Hudson Valley. Evening and weekend work will be required on an average of three times per month. • Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Community Projects Manager, work with Scenic Hudson's Parks and Community Engagement Team; River Cities Team; and the Science and Stewardship Team to develop, coordinate, promote and help run three seasons of volunteer activities in urban and rural environments located in the Hudson Valley. Examples of volunteer activities include, but are not limited to community science programs, urban farming, tree plantings, invasive plant management and trail work. The Youth Worker will assist in providing programs and services to young people in RHI's Youth Development & Socio-Emotional Learning Department. DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI), an award winning sports-based youth development program, is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as as After School Youth Workers in our elementary (REAL Kids) and middle school (DreamBuilders) programs in East Harlem and the South Bronx.
The Youth Worker will lead a group of 18-20 students daily in activities including sports, social-emotional learning, enrichment, and academic support programming.
Youth Workers will have the opportunity to participate in professional development training, in addition to receiving regular feedback and support. This is an excellent opportunity to build your youth development skills while working with a passionate and supportive team. Responsibilities
Lead a group of up to 18-20 youth in daily after-school activities including sports, social-emotional learning, enrichment and academic support;
Facilitate or co-facilitate lessons to help youth build their social and emotional skills;
Collaborate with team to plan & facilitate various enrichment activities;
Support with homework completion and other academic enrichment;
Model and encourage positive participation in all daily activities, with a focus on team building;
Model professionalism through consistent attendance, timeliness and preparation;
Supervise and manage youth behavior at all times using positive youth development strategies;
Participate in weekly professional development and tactical training in addition to formal feedback and coaching;
Implement all health and safety protocols as required.
Using a restorative approach to manage student behaviors
Qualifications
18 years of age or older by the start date for the role;
High school diploma or equivalent required;
Experience working successfully with groups of school-age children in a classroom or other youth development setting, strongly preferred;
Experience with behavior management, including positive youth development, preferred;
Exhibits high energy, warmth, enthusiasm and patience in working with youth;
Ability to quickly problem-solve in the moment;
Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting;
Ability to communicate effectively with families;
Comfort with technology and ability to use common platforms, including Zoom and Google Suite (Gmail and Gchat);
Eagerness to grow professionally, including openness to receiving and implementing feedback;
Flexibility: willing and able to shift tasks and priorities as needed;
Belief in the mission and outcomes of DREAM, including the importance of social emotional competency and advocacy for self and others;
Ability to work during the program hours;
Must be able to work in person at the program site;
A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

Compensation

Youth Worker/Teacher Aide Responsibilities:
Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
Will help the Group Leaders supervise, engage and administer recreational activities for youth and families.
