The Remote Maintenance Technician supports the remote camps and facilities overall operation and maintenance to include all interior and exterior lighting, kitchen and refrigeration equipment, heating and cooling equipment, envirovac toilet units, plumbing and electrical maintenance, fire control equipment, carpentry work and other areas as assigned. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values. This position will support the Mline Point Camp on the North Slope. This is a 2-week on & 2-week off rotational position. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK. Responsibilities * Provides the highest quality of service to the customer at all times. * Performs all assigned preventative maintenance work. * Repair equipment and systems associated with remote envirovac stations including water and wastewater pumping, storage and distribution systems. * Follows specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings for installation, maintenance and repair of structures and equipment. * Uses hand and power tools, precision measuring and testing devices to test, diagnose, and repair equipment. Must be able to dismantle equipment and install working parts. * Makes structure repairs to masonry, woodwork and furnishings, patch or replace plaster/plaster board, paint walls, ceilings, and trim. * Maintains a log of all work performed, parts needed, or parts used on all work requests. * Records utility readings and equipment readings daily and maintain current period readings in maintenance office. * Clears clogged drains and repair plumbing fixtures. * Assists in maintaining and repairing HVAC systems in all camps and facilities. * Perform any carpentry work needed for maintain and repair camps and facilities. * Removes ice and snow from sidewalks and entrances to the camps and facilities. * Attends daily safety tool box meetings and is required to do job safety evaluations for each job. * Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met. * This position has no supervisory responsibilities. * Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. Qualifications * Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * At least five (5) years of directly related camp maintenance experience to include but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and refrigeration repairs. * A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy. * Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: background check, drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to the nearest testing facility. * Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients. * Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision. * Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation. * Must be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 10 for each knee, self-pace but continuous. * Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 5 for a total of 60 steps; * Allow 30 second rest after climbing up and down each set of 30 steps. * Stairs & Carry: Climb up and down 12 steps x 2 for a total of 24 steps while carrying 40 lbs. in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced but continuous. * Allow a 30 second rest period after climbing up and down 12 steps while carrying. * Slanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 8 rungs x 8 repetitions for a total of 64 rungs; * Allow 30 second rests after each climb (up and down) of 16 rungs, self-paced. * Shovel: Perform a shovel test for three (3) minutes self-paced but continuous (i.e., no breaks) using a standard snow shovel with a 3 lb. weight attached to the shovel blade. Perform installation of machines and equipment. Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of spare parts inventory for assigned equipment, including monitoring levels, initiating requisitions, completing budget review, and ordering necessary materials. Requisition maintenance supplies, machinery, parts and equipment as needed. Perform electrical troubleshooting and component replacement as needed. Participate in required annual hazardous waste training. Hazardous waste involvement may include but is not limited to the handling of universal waste such as spent fluorescent tubes, spent filters, batteries, and used oil. Respond to spills per CP 030-0202 Chemical Spill Response. Perform job in a clean room environment requiring clean room gowning. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to manage maintenance operations for assigned shift. Ability to carry out electrical troubleshooting to root-cause, mechanical repairs, maintenance and set up of production equipment. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair technical support equipment. Proficiency in welding and machining preferred. High mechanical aptitude: ability to analyze the mechanics of new projects for the most efficient outcome, and to troubleshoot mechanical / electrical devices and repair them to good operating condition. Computer skills to include Word and Excel. Ability to work well with employees and outside contractors. Neat and organized. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification Familiarity with fundamental Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Handyman tasks Minimum of 3 years of experience in HOA, Multifamily, or Hotel settings SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical demands include ability to lift 50 to 100lb, following appropriate safety procedures. Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work. Always maintains a safe work environment. Must have excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic, that ensures that they complete all their responsibilities on a timely basis as dictated by their schedule. Able to handle, finger, grasp and lift objects and packages. Reach with hands and arms. Able to repeat various motions with the wrists, hands and fingers to complete tasks. Ability to work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time. Ability to walk and when necessary climb. Ability to work in different environmental conditions - heat, cold, wind, rain. Ability to quickly and easily navigate the building as required to meet the job functions. Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms and respond quickly and appropriately. Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. Ability to work extended/flexible hours, weekends, and holidays if required by coverage for the building. Able to be on-call outside of normal operating hours when required. Must have reliable transportation. Able to work well with others, but also able to work independently without supervision. Complete all required forms and work orders. Regularly walks floors looking for cleaning or maintenance issues, and reports these back to supervisor. Must be reliable, flexible, an on-time.

SUMMARY The Building Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Volunteers of America facilities that fall within the Building Services Program. Ensures buildings, equipment and grounds are safe and in good repair at all times. May be required to supervise volunteers and contractors. Monitors the facilities to ensure they meet all safety and health requirements while following all OSHA, Federal and State as well as EPA requirements and laws.
