Role Overview
The Mental Health Intake Clinician is often the first point of contact for individuals seeking treatment at our outpatient center. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments, determining appropriate levels of care, and ensuring a smooth transition into services.
This position is vital to ensuring clients feel heard, supported, and connected to the right resources from day one.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment & Intake
Conduct initial mental health and substance use diagnostic assessments using evidence-based tools.
Evaluate client history, presenting concerns, risk level, medical needs, and social determinants of health.
Determine level-of-care recommendations and collaboratively develop initial treatment plans.
Facilitate crisis assessments as needed, including safety planning and referrals for higher-level care.
Care Coordination & Communication
Communicate assessment results and clinical recommendations with clients, families, and treatment teams.
Complete referral coordination for internal services (therapy, groups, psychiatry) and external supports when indicated.
Ensure accurate, timely documentation in accordance with Medicaid, HIPAA, state, and federal guidelines.
Participate in interdisciplinary staffing and treatment meetings to support client engagement and retention.
Professional Standards
Maintain current knowledge of outpatient behavioral health regulations, TJC standards, and ethical guidelines.
Uphold confidentiality, trauma-informed care principles, and culturally responsive engagement.

Responsibilities:
Conducts semi/annual assessments of PACE applicants.
Works with nurse partner to ensure the interdisciplinary team has accurate information to assist participant and family members.

Plans social work interventions; accordingly, views problem resolution from the standpoint of client benefit.

The psychologist will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Speech/Language Therapy in expanding Dyslexia and learning evaluation services. Consultation and evaluation of Dyslexia and comorbid conditions would be the primary role of this provider, with opportunities to expand focus as interested. For psychologists interested in a full-time opportunity, this position could be combined with other available areas of recruitment (e.g. Autism Clinic, Anxiety/OCD Disorder Clinic, Tic/Tourette's Clinic, etc.).
Opportunities for engagement in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research are robust. Research support is available through protected time, close collaboration with the Research Institute to provide research coordination and statistical support, and additional funding for travel to present research at national and international conferences.
