Pros of working at Volvo Trucks

Great benefits with more time off than any competitor (Freightliner for example).

Cons of working at Volvo Trucks

The work environment is very “sterile” with unassigned seating and no personal belongings/character. Departments are very Siloed with inter-office squabbling.

Volvo Trucks benefits

In addition to a very generous vacation policy, there is parental leave, caregiver leave, and even volunteer leave!

What do you like best about Volvo Trucks's CEO and the leadership team?

The CEO has regular company meetings and visits the different sites and takes questions and he has followed up on employee concerns that had to be addressed at his level.

How would you improve Volvo Trucks's culture?

If we are going to have unassigned seating, group managers need to be more flexible regarding employee work locations (sometimes you have to sit on a different floor or at a different building, but the managers get upset when they can’t find you.

How did you prepare for the Volvo Trucks interview?

I met with current employees for lunch to talk about the work environment/culture and asked questions to prepare me for the interview.

How does your compensation at Volvo Trucks compare to the industry average?

My current compensation is well above average, but even my starting salary in 2012 was competitive to my previous employer in the same industry.

What's the diversity at Volvo Trucks like?

This is the most diverse “mechanical engineering based” company that I have ever experienced (gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, language, etc)

What brings you the most joy at Volvo Trucks?

The people that I work with. I also enjoy our mission. I believe in the values of this company and they walk the talk.
