This internship is designed for students with no prior manufacturing experience who want to develop practical skills while contributing to meaningful projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and production teams, gaining hands-on exposure to modern manufacturing processes and tools.
Core Responsibilities:
* Assist the ManufacturingEngineering team in daily operations and improvement projects.

Process Development Project Management - ensuring completion from start to finish
Supports and/or leads product launch activities
Review engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services
Define how to manufacture parts or products, or deliver services, with maximum efficiency
Develop quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs
Work with customers and management to develop standards for design and production
Confer with clients concerning product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects
Develop, recommend, and implement initiatives to improve production metrics and financial performance
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position is open to individuals who have worked as a direct employee in a manufacturing site.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial or ManufacturingEngineering or a related field strongly preferred and/or at least 5 years of engineering-related experience in an assembly manufacturing environment
Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and experience with identifying and leading lean continuous improvement events
Experience with automation development and implementation
Knowledge and preferred experience with additive manufacturing technologies and processes
Familiarity with industry standard equipment
Familiar with Automotive Industry standards and requirements, i.e. IATF 16949
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources)
Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes
Strong oral and written communication skills, able to provide clear, concise information to customers, internal teams, and management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure machines are running at optimal efficiencies.
Ability to Quote and estimate cycle times from a print or cad model.
Coach and train operators as required
Adjust set-ups and programs to improve yields and cycle times.
Communicate all work in progress and inform upper management of potential problems with agreed deadlines.
Develop and maintain performance measurements, and standard operating procedures.
Increase productivity and reduce scrap.
Suggest and participate in selection of new process equipment, techniques, and methods.
Develops flow of operations and processes through part completion not limited to the development of job travelers or work sheet routers.
Works closely with Quality to assist in the development of inspection frequency.
Promotes all company safety rules and requirements.
WORK APTITUDES:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Machine Shop environment experience
5 to 10 years of progressive CNC machining experience
Experience with lathes and mills
Experience with CNC programming in a CAD/CAM environment.
Experienced with shop floor programming, editing, etc..
Experience with advanced machining concepts and current technology of machining.
Experience with capacity planning
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
Proven leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills. Must have a positive attitude and be very energetic. Must be able to work with a diverse workforce, team concept, and have an open mind.
Strong problem-solving skills and detail oriented.
Experience with TPM, Setup Reduction and Kaizen concepts
Knowledge of Quality Control (including basic GDT & SPC) and in-process inspection practices.
Knowledge of cutting tools, press tooling (pierce, blank, form tools) desired.
Experience with ERP/MRP II systems.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design / select tooling, fixtures, and gauges to deliver quality machined parts from CNC mills and lathes
Program, setup and operate CNC machines using modern CAD / CAM software and or shop floor programming at the CNC Machine control.
Ensure part conformance using measurement tools including micrometers, indicators, height / depth gauges, comparators, and calipers
Recommend new tools as required
Develop set-up sheets and work procedures for machinists
Optimize set-up times, cycle times and flow through the shop
Analyze and recommend changes to workflow and layout of equipment to maximize efficiency and product flow.
Recommend additional machines as needed to grow the business
Create maintenance / upgrade programs to ensure machinery continues to run effectively
Manage competing demands and tight deadlines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Develop and maintain supportive, professional relationships with designers and engineers; collaborate with designers and engineers to suggest design improvements for machinability of parts
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area using 5S principles.

Job Summary
The ManufacturingEngineering is responsible for developing and implementing safe, quality, and cost-efficient methods for production. Production improvements include process development & documentation, tool and fixture development, line balancing, material flow delivery, part presentation, workstation layout, 5S, elimination of errors, problem solving, and automation implementation. The ManufacturingEngineer is also responsible for launching new products through process definition, safety assessment, PFMEA, process capability and validation, fixture/tool ideation, design, and implementation, prototype build, and production maturation. Essential Job Functions
Conduct direct labor studies and drive manufacturing process improvement activities through analysis and benchmarking to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate bottle necks.
Troubleshoots production equipment issues by deploying root cause problem solving and corrective actions.
Identify, define, and design process improvement tools such as weld and assembly fixtures.
Lead manufacturing new product launch including executing design and process validation activities such as supporting fabrication of prototype parts, assembly of prototype boats, and PFEP.
Support autonomous manufacturing implementation projects and other process improvement technologies.
Analyzes, evaluates, and maintains manufacturing methods and standards. Provides solutions to problems adversely affecting operator safety, quality, productivity, and/or cost.
Create and update standard work documentation for processes.
Assists in preparation of departmental budget including material, labor, equipment, and outside procurement costs, and operates within approved parameters.
Demonstrate professionalism with all Premier Marine employees and visitors.
Provide situational leadership in support of Premier Marine culture and values.
Communicate effectively through all department levels to provide a clear and consistent message in a changing environment.
