Summary of position: The Mig/Tig Welder interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying welding techniques and operating various welding devices. Responsibilities: Operates welding equipment to join metal components together using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding and gas metal arc welding (GMAW), sometimes referred to as metal inert gas (MIG) welding. Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials. General Description: The Weld Technician supports welding operations by maintaining weld process stability, performing inspections and testing, and assisting with troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
