A Brief OverviewThe Maintenance Lead is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities within the manufacturing facility to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency. This role involves hands-on technical work, guiding team efforts, and ensuring maintenance tasks are completed effectively and safely What you will do
Organize and execute preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment. Monitor adherence to maintenance schedules and identify areas for improvement.
Address equipment malfunctions promptly by diagnosing and resolving issues. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Act as a resource for team members, offering technical guidance and support. Share best practices and assist in developing team members' technical skills.
Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks and equipment history. Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with production and engineering teams to enhance equipment performance.
Assist in maintaining parts inventory and recommending necessary spare parts.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance processes.

Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) or
Associate's Degree or technical training (Preferred)
Experience Qualifications
1-3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. (Required)
1-3 years working with industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, and PLC systems. (Required)
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems used in manufacturing. (High proficiency)
Skills in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues. (High proficiency)
Clear and effective communication skills for team interaction and reporting. (High proficiency)
Ability to prioritize and organize maintenance tasks to minimize downtime. (High proficiency)
Experience with maintenance management software (CMMS) and basic computer applications. (Medium proficiency)

Summary: The MaintenanceTechnician can perform a wide variety of work to ensure that the facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing work in all operational and Facilities areas, depending upon the immediate needs of the department. While MaintenanceTechnicians may have developed skills in one or more areas, all are expected to be able to perform general maintenance and repair in all areas of assignment, which may include equipment, motor and conveyor repair and maintenance as well as building maintenance including lighting, electrical and plumbing in any of the distribution centers.
Responsibilities
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, schematics and blueprints.
Ability to use electrical diagnostic equipment (to include digital and analog meters, and amp meters for AC/DC testing).
Ability to work as a team member by interacting and communicating with co-workers and managers in a collaborative and constructive manner.
Works with Supervisor to mentor/develop team and Tech's in training.
Work with Vendors aligned to facilities.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to change load wheels on power equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair low and high voltage controls including fuses, relays, wiring.
Maintains building, equipment, shop and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Completes work orders for work performed and includes parts and inventory used.
Document all work order activities to comply with MP2 requirements, providing documented records of the activities performed.
Follow lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures, and other safety and environmental procedures and policies as required.
Experience working in maintenance in a distribution center setting.
Building conveyor maintenance experience required.
Qualifications

Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Prior maintenance experience with forklifts, conveyors, controls, hydraulics, pneumatics and building maintenance.
Electrical experience with high and low voltage, AC and DC.
Ability to lift 70 lbs
Technical school or training desired.
Computer skills navigating email/Microsoft Suite
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings.
Proven track record of strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Welding skill preferred, but not required.

What is a Production Technician?
The Production Technician will perform a variety of manual tasks involving mechanical, electrical assembly and test operations on the assigned product lines. This may include painting and/or deburring a wide variety of products, perform routine activities involved in the assembly, storing, stocking and handling of materials, systems and products. This is a first shift position with hours from 7am-3:30pm.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have recent assembly experience using blueprints and hand/power tools in a manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively assemble and test the variety of products for the qualified area.
Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
Ensure that products and systems are shipped with appropriate packing, documentation and delivery requirements.
Visually inspect product to ensure that the product has not been damaged or has not deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.
Inspect, test and/or evaluate all parts manufactured in the specific assembly area and to perform quality related analysis.
May track inventory to prepare other documentation on a computer.
Effectively perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using materials handling equipment when necessary. (such as: lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.)
Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.
Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.

Required Experience and Education

As a Facilities MaintenanceTechnician 2, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated material handling equipment and ensure high equipment availability rates. You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, and rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and quickly restore equipment to service to support the successful operation of the supply chain facility. You will work with other service technicians to solve problems, validate quality of work for outside specialty contractors, work with building leaders to optimize material handling equipment, and meet aggressive timelines. You will collaborate with MaintenanceTechnician and managers to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures. A successful candidate in this role will:
*Essential Job Functions: *
1. Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, or Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
2. Adjust scanners, cameras, field buses, scales and printer applicators
3. Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)
4. Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment
5. Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
6. Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders, etc.
7. Assist with basic electronics/ Programmable Logic Controls troubleshooting
8. Conduct maintenance and basic troubleshooting of all types of industrial robots
9. Utilize handheld devices and asset management system to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)
10. Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
11. Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
12. Develops knowledge base of different systems within the Distribution Center.
13. Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment with the Maintenance department.
14. Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g. customers, suppliers, associates) to minimize downtime of equipment.
15. Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment.
*Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:*
• 2 to 3 years of practical experience as a maintenancetechnician, mechanic or equivalent.
• 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience
• 2 years of experience specializing in preventative maintenance and process improvement.
• PC competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devices
• Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols and electrical measuring
• Experience in the following areas:

Our Unilever Hammond, IN facility is the home of the Dove Beauty Bar, one of Unilever's biggest brands and the largest soap factory within the US. Our Hammond facility is where we have been working to make beauty a source of confidence by manufacturing the different variations of the Dove beauty bar. The Maintenance - Packaging Machinist will under minimal direction of management or other employees, safely performs and guides: the coordination and repair, replacement, installation, inspection, enhancement, optimization, testing and troubleshooting of all pack floor facilities, including high-speed packaging equipment such as cartoners, case packers, etc.
Who You Are & What You'll Do
As the Maintenance - Packaging Machinist must have mechanical experience and knowledge with high-speed packaging equipment, hydraulics including DCV valves, pneumatics including different types of actuating cylinders, gearboxes, drive systems, transport conveyors and associated subcomponents, and performing line mechanical changeovers. Working knowledge of PLC, Frequency Drives, Process Controls is a plus. Must be able to display manual dexterity and perform all physical demands as outlined in the job description; and understand and follows all GMP/Plant Hygiene guidelines when performing their daily functions as well as being able to work with little or no direction on a team/in a group.
All activities must be performed in strict compliance with Unilever standards and safety guidelines.
Performs Preventative Maintenance Routines including accurate, complete, and timely follow-up documentation. This documentation includes computerized work order updates, inventory transactions, verbal and written reports, etc.
Effectively troubleshoot equipment for repairs/replacement including accurate, complete and timely follow-up documentation including work order updates, inventory transactions, verbal and written reports, etc. for all equipment on the packaging floor.
Effectively uses hand/power tools and shop equipment to machine, manufacture or modify and/or repair parts from drawings and/or sample.
Effectively work with Managers, operators, contractors, service people, vendors/suppliers, and clients to ensure timely and accurate completion of services.
Defines, selects, and requests parts and materials for project work/equipment repair while following approved procedures.
Effectively communicates with others by participating in shift handovers, responding to questions, and seeking feedback/input.
Perform all tasks and responsibilities in a fashion that assures personal safety and the safety of others and equipment. Report any non-conformance to safety standards.
Move and operate various equipment including but not limited to forklift, highlift, etc.
Effectively works and participates in a team environment
Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments and diagnose to prevent future problems.
Actively participates and/or leads in project initiatives and selected cross-functional teams as approved
Required to stay up to date on emerging technologies and techniques relating to area(s) of expertise.
Schedules and plans daily activities and project initiatives.
Performs/follows quality related practices (i.e. SPC, TQM, GMP etc.)
Required to train others, participate in training design and initiate efforts to develop or modify training programs.
Required to stay up to date on emerging technologies and techniques relating to area(s) of expertise.
Maintains and cleans: Work area, job site, tools and equipment.
Share job related knowledge and information with management and peers.
Completes other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need To Succeed
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 2+ years' experience in a similar role
Effective troubleshooting skills is a must.
