The Onboarding Specialist plays an important and hands-on role within the People team, helping to welcome and support new team members across designated VPNE locations. This position makes a meaningful impact by guiding new hires through the onboarding process and ensuring all necessary paperwork and compliance steps, including occupational health requirements, are completed smoothly. This position is remote on Mondays, and in the office Tuesday through Friday, with an office based in downtown Boston.
Responsibilities
Connects with all candidates that have been offered a position with VPNE, and acts as their guide and advocate through the process until they are cleared to start.
Collects new hire paperwork including VPNE specific and legally required compliance forms from candidates as well as hiring managers through our applicant tracking system (ATS) and email workflows.
Reviews paperwork for errors and advises the new hire and hiring manager on how to make corrections.
Tracks progress across new hire task lists and updates task statuses to support a smooth and timely onboarding process.
Monitors background check progress and interprets results to support onboarding decisions, applying sound judgment and problem-solving skills when handling complex or ambiguous cases.
Communicates internally and externally with urgency in order to keep the process moving as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Applies expert-level proficiency in the HR software suite to oversee the full new hire process from application and background screening to onboarding, HCM system activation, and clearance to begin work.
Provides full onboarding cycle support from Boston office Tuesdays - Fridays.
Qualifications
Years of Experience: At least 1+ years of professional work experience, preferably in a talent/recruiting & onboarding supervisory capacity.
Language Skills: Proficient in English both verbally and written
Education Requirements: Bachelor's or associate degree in related field or applicable experience.
Requirements:
Strong aptitude for learning software. Experience with EMP, Asana, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Dayforce a plus
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the flexibility to multitask and adapt in a high-energy, deadline-driven setting.
Must bring a proactive mindset, a positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills, along with a genuine interest in supporting others through the People function.

The Patient Care Companion functions under the direction of the registered Nurse responsible for the Patient's care and following the Patient's individualized needs. Nursing care is provided to the Patient by the nursing staff. Responsibilities
Communicate any change of assignment to the nursing office.
Performs patient observation as assigned
Documents Patient's behavior using the appropriate form/tool
Obtains appropriate information at the start of the shift regarding care from a Registered Nurse
Patient conversation guidelines should be adhered to
Monitors the Patient's safety and maintains a safe environment as directed by the registered Nurse; for ex: maintains safety position in the room when appropriate. (i.e., back to the door) and always keeps patients in sight.
Monitor patient for escalating behavior.
Accompany the Patient to the bathroom and tests as needed.
Demonstrate proficiency with the use of bed alarms.
Place the Patient's clothing and belongings in the Patient's closet, away from the Patient.
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
Observes and reports the Patient's status and needs to the Nurse.
Remains on duty until relieved by oncoming coverage or the Nurse discontinues coverage.
Patient Care Companion may be assigned to watch patients at risk for suicide.
Qualifications:
Years of Experience: Entry Level
Language Skills: Proficient in English, both verbally and written
Requirements:

Understand individual roles/responsibilities in the event of a hospital code. (e.g., Code Green, Code Red)
Perform proper hand washing per CDC guidelines.
Safeguard the privacy and security of patient information. The employee complies will policies and procedures relating to the hospital's privacy and security programs.
Bring potential compliance issues to a manager, supervisor, director, or VP.
Utilize Chain of Command to communicate any identified patient or staff safety risks.
Reports patient status to oncoming staff in a respectful, professional manner.
