The Electrical Planner is responsible for coordinating the implementation and operation of the electrical maintenance program. This person interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
What You'll Do:
* Complete all assigned jobs safely and in the most efficient manner available.
* Use experience and training to make recommendations that will reduce costs to the assignment.
* Seek out additional training in any identified developmental areas.
* Direct supervision of assigned VMC personnel/ Electrical contractors, to assure that all VMC policies and safety procedures are being followed.
* Assist the Electrical Supervisor / Manager and Operations Management with department cost control.
* Utilize electrical experience to organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time wherever possible.
* Keep the Electrical Supervisor / Manager informed on the progress of all assignments, and of any variables that may change the scope of the assigned task.
* Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA, and OSHA requirements.
* Work with department leadership to implement changes necessary to comply with VMC guidelines and policies. Suggest improvements as necessary to make any changes manageable and sustainable.
Skills You'll Need:
* Minimum of 4 years of experience in the electrical trade, laying out work and organizing jobs.
* Demonstrable experience interpreting pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NESC, & MSHA).
* Experience in the mining industry is preferred.
* A journeyman or master electrician card is preferred.
* Ability to interact with plant personnel and different levels of management when requests for service are received.

GIS Solutions will include traditional and web-based maps, data creation and updates, data collection solutions, and web-based applications. Additional responsibilities will include interacting with outside data providers including surveyors, drone companies and environmental consultants on an as requested basis.

* Assist with interaction of all internal customers that request GIS solutions.
* Design, create, maintain and manage project specific databases related to geology, mining, land management, imagery, and environmental in either file geodatabases and/or SQL Enterprise databases.
* Prepares data, maps, web solutions, and technical documents and presents to internal customers, management and operations personnel.
* Assist in maintenance of data and files on the network server in up-to-date status, following departmental and company policies.
* Ability to find, create and validate a variety of data (historical and current internal data as well as available external data) to build simple and complex solutions for both surface and subsurface situations.
* General knowledge of coordinate geometry (COGO) and its use in land management.
* Know of land management principles including parcels, metes and bounds, and the public land survey system.
* Assist with routine performance analysis and maintenance of GIS systems in coordination with company database and system administrators.
* Assist users with specific problems using ESRI software.
* Respond to a wide variety of information and data requests.

Education:
* Degree in Geospatial Science or GIS or related GIS experience in Geology or Mining.
* Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working as a GIS technician or analyst.
* GISP certified and/or ESRI certified is a plus.

Ensure Quality Control. Conduct routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site. Summer 2026 Internship: Risk Management
What to Expect:
We are hiring an Intern to join our Risk Management team. As a Risk Management Intern, you will receive on-the-job training and rotate between various members of Risk Management, which is split between our "Claims/Litigation Management" and "Risk/Insurance" Teams. Among other things, you will prepare PowerPoint presentations, assist with the review of Vendor Certificates of Insurance (COI), attend department meetings and meet and greets, and spend time daily working on a summer project that you will present to the Risk Team and fellow interns at the end of the internship.
Your assignment will be located in Birmingham, Alabama, at Vulcan's corporate headquarters location.
What You'll Do:
* Rotate between Claims/Litigation Management and Risk/Insurance Teams within the Risk Management Department to learn about the roles of each of our 14-member team.
* Assist with daily functions such as review and distribution of the incoming paper mail (heavy on Certificates of Insurance and workers' compensation medical bills).
* Assist with review of Vendor Certificates of Insurance (COI) and forwarding them or responding to the Vendor's Agent/Broker.
* Assist with Insurance Policy data entry into the Risk Management Information System.
* Participate in internal Vulcan meetings to discuss insurance renewals as well as claims/litigation strategy sessions.
* Attend meetings in Atlanta/Birmingham with Vulcan insurance brokers and carriers.
* Attend local RIMS and Young Risk Professional (YRP) Events to aid in networking.
* Spend time daily working on the summer project, which is presented to the Risk Department and fellow interns at the end of the internship.
Skills You'll Need
Education. Enrolled in good standing with your college and pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Risk Management & Insurance. Junior or Senior level is preferred.
Experience. Previous work experience or internship is preferred but not required; General knowledge of commercial insurance and corporate risk management operations and procedures, as it relates to contract review and certificates of insurance, is preferred but not required.
Interpersonal Skills. Requires sound thought and judgment in reviewing contractual agreements and maintaining confidentiality of files. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with executives and hourly employees alike. Must have the ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and executive presence.
Technology Skills. Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and GSuite (Google Mail, Docs, etc.).

The Category Manager-Fixed Equipment is responsible for developing, communicating, and executing enterprise-wide sourcing strategies for major/critical spend categories. The Electrician/Automation role maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with both internal and external customers. They possess the training and expertise to execute any electrical assignments they are given. Additionally, the Journeyman is responsible for guiding and instructing Apprentices through all job assignments and ensuring the completion of their assigned tasks.
What You'll Do:
* Complete all assigned jobs safely and in the most efficient manner available. Use experience and training to make recommendations that will reduce costs to the assignment.
* Seek out additional training in any identified developmental areas.
* Direct supervision of assigned apprentice(s) is required to ensure that the apprentice is following all VMC
policies and safety procedures.
* Assist the Electrical Foreman with department cost control. Utilize electrical experience to
organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time wherever possible.
* Keep the Electrical Foreman informed on the progress of all assignments and of any variables that may change the scope of the assigned task.
* Assist the Electrical Foreman in identifying skills that apprentices may be lacking and assist in creating training that will raise the skill level of the other Journeymen and Apprentices so that all journeymen and apprentices are capable of performing their tasks as required in a systematic and repetitive fashion.
* Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA and OSHA requirements.
* Work with department leadership to implement changes necessary to make any changes
manageable and sustainable.
Skills You'll Need:
* Experience. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical trade, laying out work, and organizing jobs.. Demonstratable experience interpreting pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NESC, and MSHA).∙ Experience in the mining industry is preferred.
* Equipment Operation - Proficiency in operating large equipment, including understanding the
controls, gauges, and indicators.
* Ability to manipulate equipment accurately and smoothly for various tasks.
* Skill in handling attachments and understanding their applications.
* Safety Awareness - Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.
* Planning and Scheduling - Effective planning of repair procedures, scheduling work
considering resource availability, and maintaining necessary inventory. Problem Solving - identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. This involves identifying the problem, diagnosing the cause, finding practical solutions, implementing fixes, and adapting to unexpected challenges. Teamwork and Collaboration - Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others to achieve common goals; contributes positively to group efforts, sharing knowledge, and being open to others' ideas and feedback. Adaptability - Adapts to new conditions, is flexible and open-minded when facing challenges, and maintains high performance during change.
* Leadership Skills- Acts decisively and supports all aspects of the company to work together to
accomplish objectives, vision, mission, and values of Vulcan. Trusts and allows people to do their job, holding them accountable for the full extent of their responsibilities.
* Must have the ability to lift 40 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items; stand, sit, and walk for
long periods of time.
* Must have the ability to drive a pick-up truck, repair truck or fork truck on a daily basis.
* Knowledge in use of phone systems, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
* Local travel as well as a periodic need to travel by airline. Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
* Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical

* Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
* Test electrical equipment, Electrical PPE, Electrician's hand tools and motorized vehicles
* Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
