About the Job:
The Plant Operator IV is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the automated processing of rock products at an aggregate location. The incumbent will monitor and control the equipment, identify and resolve any issues, and ensure that the plant is operating at peak efficiency.
What You'll Do:
* Operates a production material plant.
* Maintain material quality.
* Perform basic maintenance activities. Other Requirements:

* Complies with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
* Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift up to 45 pounds.
* The employee is outdoors and exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions (i.e., heat, wet, cold, etc).
* Must be able to work required overtime and flexible work schedule.
* Must be able to speak, read, and have a working knowledge of the English language.

Qualifications - External Skills You'll Need:
Education: High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience: 5 years experience in the construction/mining industry preferred. - Experience with automated processing equipment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
* Must have strong working knowledge of industrial processing equipment such as screens, crushers and conveyor systems
* Must be observant and alert to the movement and condition of equipment within the assigned responsibility area.
* Identify and resolve any issues with the equipment, such as mechanical failures, electrical problems, or software glitches.
* Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the equipment.
* Ensure that the plant is operating at peak efficiency, and take steps to optimize production. - Must have basic computer skills.

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Plant Operation. Operate plant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins. Control stockpile inventory of materials.
Inspect Equipment, Structures, and Material. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the plant equipment and document items in need of repair or service.
Monitor Processes and Materials. Monitor and review plant equipment systems to ensure continuous flow of materials and maintain certified products. Remove clogged materials when applicable.
Document and Record Information. Assist plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance. Read and write delivery tickets to determine the mix design called for each load. Issue delivery tickets to customers.
Repair and Maintain Plant Equipment. Assist with maintenance activities, including greasing, lubricating, and other minor repairs throughout the plant when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
Knowledge of Best Practices. A basic knowledge of the concrete, cement, or construction industry is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Job Description:
Operates plant and plant operations which includes the manufacturing of asphalt products and design mixes. Duties include maintaining revenue, inventory, materials, quality assurance/control, human resources, and information systems records. Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Required to meet certain certifications in asphalt operations. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks such as major maintenance and repair. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to Superintendent of the asphalt plant operations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise a crew of 2 to 5 employees at times depending on the schedule.
Must be able to communicate to top management, suppliers, vendors, safety compliance officers and customers to facilitate a safe workplace while performing daily supervision of personnel and equipment.
Must have the ability to produce quality product in a timely manner.
Must have the knowledge of proper asphalt production and all equipment associated with everyday operations.
Must have the ability to lead people and keep daily job cost records, quantities, cost and employee time records.
Must be able to conduct safety huddle and toolbox safety meetings with the crew.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
Two or more years of asphalt plant operations.
