Responsibilities
To develop, grow and maintain a profitable book of Human Services business within an assigned territory through marketing and underwriting processes; demonstrate functional technical knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques to include coverage issues, product lines, marketing, relevant systems and competition in the marketplace. Manages relationship with assigned producers to manage submission, quote and bind activity and deliver on service commitments established by the designated Service Level Agreement (SLA).
* Risk Selection: evaluate/assess submitted applications for appetite acceptability; assess risk and determine premium, terms and conditions in accordance with Letter of Authority (LOA) for new and renewal business; generate quote proposals and deliver to producers; negotiate final terms leading to binding.
* Producer Relationships: develop and maintain relationships through regular visits and phone contact; review pipeline and prospect lists; develop leads; review Producer Score Card and provide ongoing feedback toward goal commitments.
* Complete underwriting checklists outlining underwriting thought process, loss analysis, pricing theory and risk characteristics.
* Maintain records and prepare required reports as necessary, including Salesforce, Clearance, BPMi and any other systems involved.
* Meet or communicate with marketing personnel as warranted, including sharing competitive information, requesting support/assistance with the relationships, and seeking assistance in marketing strategy.
* Maintain contact with and function as liaison between independent agents, claims adjusters, finance team members, actuarial team members, Risk Control team members and other concerned parties in administering accounts where necessary.
* Maintain and update files for underwriting reviews.
* Provide instructions for policy issuance.
* Handle endorsement requests to ensure timely processing.
* Assist and/or mentor other members of the department including underwriters, assistant underwriters, and Operations team members as warranted.
May perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 3 years of multi-line underwriting and marketing experience.
* Knowledge of insurance rating, structure, forms, and coverages.
* Ability to maintain confidential information.
* Strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills to include the ability to affirmatively close sales.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Overview
Underwrites, prices and services large, loss sensitive accounts (premium >$350k) working with appropriate supervision on assignments of varying complexity, hazard grade and premium. Responsibilities
* Underwrite and process large account renewal policies with supervision and within a letter of authority from the Underwriting Manager. Gather, analyze, and evaluate risk exposure through appropriate risk documentation. Apply knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophy.
* Respond to agents' inquiries on coverage and adjust policy information based upon prescribed authority.
* Work within specified authority level to quote, accept, decline, modify and renew risks within account assignment in accordance with accepted underwriting guidelines. Partner with Large Account Specialists, Agents, team members and other departments to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
* Effectively communicate underwriting decisions and appetite at the individual account and portfolio level to internal and external customers. Reinforce the ease of doing business with Selective by meeting or exceeding customers' expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.

Tower Hill Insurance, Florida's largest Homeowners insurer, is currently seeking an Account Underwriter for their Personal Lines Underwriting team. The Account Underwriter is the key position for communication and relationships with agencies.
Looking for an individual with strong communication, time management, and decision making skills. To be considered, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience. Willing to consider new college graduates or experienced individuals. Insurance company experience, agency experience, insurance licenses or designations are a plus. Position offers excellent opportunity for growth. Essential duties and responsibilities:
Communicates daily with agents via telephone and email to assist in risk placement and rating, to obtain information, and answer agent inquiries.
Corresponds with field reps and other insurance or inspection companies to obtain information, answer inquiries, or explain company underwriting policies.
Accepts or rejects applications based on underwriting guidelines.
Reviews insurance applications and endorsements to evaluate, classify, and rate Personal Lines policies of insurance.
Examines applications, inspection reports, insurance maps, and credit reports to determine risk and appropriate rate.
Travels periodically to assigned field.
Additional duties as assigned.
