Bellows Construction company history timeline

1914

Since 1914, Bellows has left its mark with projects in the cultural arts, office/mixed-use, industrial, healthcare, religious, and education sectors.

1920

In 1920 the company moved to Oklahoma City and won contracts throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee. (Photograph: University of Texas Tower)

1936

In 1936 Bellows was awarded the contract to build the San Jacinto Monument which moved the company to Houston.

1939

Probably his most famous construction was the San Jacinto Monument, at 570 feet the tallest monument in the world when it was completed in 1939.

1963

Bellows completed the ExxonMobil Building (formerly Humble Oil) in 1963.

1967

On February 3, 1967, Bellows died in Houston; he was survived by his wife, Anna (Williams), and four children

1968

Bellows completed the original Alley Theatre in Downtown Houston in October 1968.
