As an Assembly Technician, you will be a crucial team member to complete the tank trailer. All work duties are performed under the direction and supervision of the department supervisor and team leads. As Saab continues to grow its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force new military trainer, the T-7A Red Hawk. These positions are responsible for assembling the aircraft structure, training new team members and taking an active role in defining our state-of-the-art production system. Assemblers selected will receive paid, on-site job training through our Aerospace structures training academy.
Responsibilities include:
Execute standardized working procedures to deliver 100% quality according to requirements to install systems and final mechanical assembly on the aircraft structure

SUMMARY: To prepare and stage press or laminator jobs. Prepress personnel are used in any capacity needed to stage items at any machine. They may retrieve and prepare cylinders for press run and after the press run, clean the cylinders and store them. Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in developing, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures and or training documentation.
Print and understand each job's Job Jacket, Print Specification, and Manufacturing Specification and take to the press.
Retrieve daily production schedule that identifies which job will run, quantities, priorities, etc. Interpret and act upon information.
Detect, report, and resolve all missing or substandard machine parts.
Use an automated storage system terminal to retrieve and return cylinders and anilox to storage.
Assemble and transport print cylinders and aniloxes between printing press and prepress departments.
Place cylinders on assembly table and install the gears and journals. Install the pans, applicator pipes, end shields, splash guards and cylinders into the carriage units.
Return the units to prepress, remove the parts, clean up the cylinders, and store them back into the storage system after a job has run.
Aid on press set-ups as needed. Assist miscellaneous housekeeping and cleaning responsibilities.
Complete required reports and paperwork. Use a computer terminal.
Perform required cleaning tasks - some daily, weekly or monthly requirements.
Obtain Power Industrial Truck license(s).
Complete PSM training and be able to perform all work in the washroom.
Effectively communicate with coworkers throughout all shifts.
Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings.

Job Description:
On a production basis, performs light electronic and/or electromechanical assembly work of low complexity and limited scope. Performs only relatively simple assembly procedures, which require primarily manual dexterity and the ability to work with simple hand tools. The cycle of repetition is ordinarily short with long work runs on the same or similar items. Parts are ordinarily not difficult to handle and soldering, if required, does not involve access problems. Works from samples or simple visual aids (clearly marked drawings or photographs, etc.) and receives detailed instructions as to exact procedures to be followed. Excludes those who are engaged primarily in loading and operating a machine, which assembles parts or components.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs only relatively simple assembly procedures
Performs operation of contact welder;
Performs operation of orbital swager;
Utilizes a variety of tools, gages and equipment;
Keeps quality up to acceptable standards with little discrepant work;
Performs tasks equal to or exceeding established standards;
Accomplishes production quotas;
Keeps work area clean and orderly;
Ability to react to changes productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned;
Skills and Requirements:
Due to need to maintain ITAR compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Performs light electronic and / or electromechanical assembly work of low complexity and scope;
Operation of resistance soldering unit;
Performs frequent spring linking as required;
Adequate manual dexterity to safely and proficiently work with simple small hand tools;
Ability to work from samples or simple visual aids;
Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instruction in English;
Ability to work well with only a modest amount of repeated instructions;
Working consistently, working overtime, as required;
Be team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptability.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Using drawings and blueprints, accurately assemble windows according to customer specifications
Use of hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, hammers) and various measuring equipment
Ensure quality on all assembled and pre-assembled materials
Work closely with a team
Package and prepare windows for shipping
Support and cross-train in other production areas as needed
Requirements:
Basic reading, writing, and math skills as well as the ability to read blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
Ability to read/use a tape measure and various hand tools
Ability to adapt - must be flexible
Strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively
Prior manufacturing experience is preferred but not required - willing to train the right candidate
Reliability and proven attendance at past jobs
Physical Demands:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As the WIRE HARNESS ASSEMBLER I (AEROSPACE), responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
Assembly and fabrication of wire harnesses.
Understand PLI Manufacturing, Customer, and Industry standards and requirements.
Communicate clearly with the Procurement department and suppliers as needed.
Work to meet customer and internal production schedules.
Maintain a high level of integrity dealing with all departments within the organization.
Identify process improvements.
Maintain work area to appropriate standards, based on 6S methodologies.
Adhere to company policies and procedures described in the Employment Handbook.
Drive to meet or exceed time goals for each job performed.
Learn to utilize PLEX operating system as related to Production and job function.
ABOUT YOU:
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to use and read measuring equipment, such as scales, calipers, micrometers, crimpers, and other hand tools.
Ability to learn how to read, understand, and execute both written and verbal instructions such as blueprints and electrical wiring schematics.
Ability to learn, comprehend, and obtain the internal IPC-620 and J-STD certification.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
Basic Computer Experience, (Microsoft Office-Excel, Word).
Effective communication skills, motivated, self-starter, punctual.
Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
