This Chicago location provides energy management systems to the Freight Car Market; Draft Gears, Slack Adjusters, Handbrakes, Spherical Articulated Connectors, TMX/UBX Truck Mounted Brake Systems. How will you make a difference? As a member of the Chicago location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for production of quality products. You will assemble metal products, such as draft gears, slack adjusters, handbrakes, or hydraulic cylinders, partially or completely, working at a bench or on the shop floor by performing the following duties. Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints. Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners. Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts. Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation. Disassembles draft gears, slack adjusters, handbrakes for salvage of parts. Ensures areas are maintained according to 5S principles. Performs all duties of Material Handler or Laborer. The Assembler is responsible for production of various components and processes related to the company's manufacturing contracts at the Sandusky Plant, Fremont Plant or Bellevue Plant. The Assembler is expected to meet production goals and quality standards set by Goodwill and its customers.
