The Role

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To maintain, develop, and support ShopGoodwill.com, an auction style e-commerce platform.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Vice President of Online Operations Shopgoodwill.com with latitude for independent judgement and decision making in defined areas of responsibility.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May consult with and direct work activities with outside Programming resources when appropriate and necessary as determined by the Vice President of Online Operations and ShopGoodwill.com Product Manager. Interfaces with design consultants and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works directly with the Lead E-Commerce SystemsEngineer and Product Manager strategic and tactical work items related to ShopGoodwill.com. Performs and manages activities related to technical development, performance, maintenance and security measures for ShopGoodwill.com and related websites and APIs. Serves as resource for updating, creating, and/or modifying ShopGoodwill.com and/or other external web sites, APIs, and other Web-based projects as instructed. Responsibilities include: obtaining current data from external systems and ensuring timely and accurate input; provides some training and guidance to users regarding features and usage; identifying problems or concerns and recommending solutions; and providing some support for external users. Proactively verifies text and graphic content and formatting for correctness and quality and ensures design consistency throughout website(s). Prepares and submits reports related to ShopGoodwill.com development projects to Vice President of Online Operations and ShopGoodwill.com Product Manager. Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools, and new languages through reading computer-related periodicals and attending seminars. Analyzes traffic to Web sites and recommends any necessary programming and/or hardware/software modifications or changes. Creates and maintains a variety of files and technical documentation to support department functions. Possible collaboration with external vendors on special Web site events, promotions, marketing campaigns, or specific design projects. Documents internet-related procedures and security information. Performs other job related duties as required. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. Follows all company policies and procedures. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred or equivalent work experience/education combined.
Three to five years .Net and Web Development experience.
Knowledge of various PC software and hardware and fundamentals of how the Internet works. Software requirements include proficiency in the following software programs/applications, formats, and server technologies
