Responsibilities:
Assist in applying various validation techniques to demonstrate that a model, algorithm, or analytical system performs according to the objectives outlined in the original design.
Clean, aggregate, and transform large, structured, and unstructured datasets to prepare them for analysis.
Assist the division in identifying promising internal and external data sources that could be integrated and utilized to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Assist the division in data science project management to ensure key development milestones (e.g., data acquisition, model training, validation, deployment) are planned for, executed, and documented.
Analyze the division's existing data infrastructure and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and to assess readiness for advanced analytical models.
Possess a detailed understanding of the organizational structure, command relationships, and missions within the division, as well as the knowledge of how these organizations collaborate to achieve data-driven objectives.
Typical associated tasks include, but are not limited to requirements analysis, developing machine learning models, statistical modeling, data visualization, organizational performance assessment, special studies, and analysis, cost-performance trade-off analysis, feasibility analysis, regulatory compliance support, conceptual data model designs, and training.
Conduct training sessions for uniformed members of the division on the use of various data science, analytics, and AI/ML tools and methodologies to improve data literacy and operational effectiveness across the force.
Given a list of operational objectives, the DataScientist shall develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to generate insights and predictive forecasts. Results and methodologies shall be presented to the division.
Provide programmatic information regarding the data sources, analytical tools, and modeling techniques used, including (if available) model performance metrics, limitations, and potential for operational integration. This information will enable the component to render an informed decision on the appropriate level of interest and trust in the analytical product.
Attend various meetings and conferences to articulate validated division data requirements and to recommend division perspectives on data and AI/ML development efforts.
Provide the division with required market research on emerging data science technologies and a detailed analysis of alternatives for analytical tools and platforms.
Shall be capable of providing detailed recommendations on model design, prototype development, algorithm development, and technical and combat evaluation activities for the division
