What You'll Be Doing The Student Intern position with Community Services is a great opportunity for current undergraduate and graduate students to get exposure to work in a local government setting. You'll work on one or more projects that will provide you with relevant experience when looking for a full-time job in the future. POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to add a dynamic Recreation Facility Manager to the team! This position will oversee daily operations at Berewick Recreation Center and a secondary recreation site located at Winget Park Elementary School. This includes but is not limited to supervising recreation staff, overseeing recreation activities and programming, managing rentals, and leading community outreach efforts. This position will also be responsible for budget planning and management for both locations. Position Summary
This is a customer-facing position that will greet, receive, and assign customers and the public who have come into the Mecklenburg County Community Resource Center (CRC) to apply for Health and Human Services and supporting programs. Health and Human Services agencies represented in the CRC are the Department of Social Services, Public Health, Child Support, Veterans Affairs and various community service organizations/agencies.
This position is responsible for reviewing information in the state and county computer systems to assess need and case status, provide information and referral services, and utilize the queuing system to successfully route customers to the appropriate portal for the assistance they seek. This position may also provide administrative back-up to other administrative support functions.

Position Summary
This is a public health nurse position that works primarily in a school setting but may work in an office, clinical or other community setting. Performs work with individuals, groups, or families to plan or implement programs designed to improve the overall health of communities. POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is looking for dynamic individuals to join our team as Lifeguards. These positions will be responsible for ensuring a safe swimming environment for the general public. Specific duties include providing basic first aid, delivering exceptional customer service, and overseeing all swimming activities. These positions will be based at any of our Aquatic facilities- Ray's Splash Planet, Marion Diehl Recreation Center, Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, Eastway Regional Recreation Center and Northern Regional Recreation Center. Job Purpose Alamance County is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable leader looking to make an impact in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Under the direction of the County Manager, this position will oversee the critical day-to-day operations of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department. We are seeking a leader who is honest, kind, respectful, and fair, with integrity, humility and a desire to see the employees be the best they can be by providing a comfortable work environment, an open line of communication, sufficient training, and someone who takes ownership of the overall workplace morale.
The Director will manage a budget upwards of $12 million dollars and a staff of 88 full time and 32 part time employees. The Director will oversee the critical areas of: EMS administration, EMS education/Training, and Quality Assurance. The EMS Director will interact with local Fire Chiefs, hospital Chief Medical Officers, the system Medical Director, health system Chief Executive Officers, and multiple board-of-directors, mandating a leader with notable skills in negotiation and healthcare.
Responsibilities
Performs administrative and management functions related to the budgeting, planning, directing, and overall operation of the emergency medical services department. Responsible for managing the staff of EMS providers that provide 24/7, 365 days operation of emergency medical services response; as well as developing short-term and long-range plans for personnel, stations, equipment and system needs for the County. Work includes planning for current and future needs for the service, identifying improvement opportunities, developing and implementing operating procedures, overseeing maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles, and management of personnel. Position is responsible for developing and administering an annual $12 million budget and working with the EMS billing company to generate sufficient revenues. Work is performed under the general supervision of the county manager and is evaluated through the effectiveness of the service.
Examples of Work
Creates, monitors, and manages yearly budget for EMS.
Coordinates the efforts of the ambulance service with hospitals, county health department, fire departments and law enforcement agencies.
Works with Medical Director and Training Officer to ensure standing protocols are current and staff is sufficiently trained. Reviews employee performance with medical director, shift supervisors, and training officer to assure compliance with standing protocols.
Serve as EMS System Plan Administrator for Alamance County to include all medical responders. Maintains an excellent working relationship with all emergency service/public safety agencies.
Researches and applies for appropriate grant opportunities for EMS.
Plans current and future needs and improvements in services.
Maintains records for all controlled substances used by the service.
Works closely with billing and collections vendor to ensure proper billing practices and identify opportunities to ensure sufficient revenue stream.
Evaluates patient care supplies and equipment, schedules replacement of equipment and vehicles. Reviews equipment needing repairs; determines cost of repair and compares with replacement cost.
Maintains positive working relationships with public and elected officials. Investigates citizen complaints concerning the service and ensures satisfactory resolution.
Develops appropriate matrixes to measure and track various performance areas.
Provides regular updates to County Manager and County Commissioners regarding services
Serves as a member of various professional committees in the County and region and meets with federal, state and local officials and others to stay informed on new techniques, equipment and communication system
Works closely with Emergency Services and Central Communications to ensure communications, response times, calls and other related reporting of information are accurate.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in EMS, public administration or related field and 10 years of experience in emergency medical services including five (5) years of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license for state of residence, North Carolina Office of EMS Paramedic Certification, National Registry of EMTs Paramedic credential preferred, NC OEMS Level II Instructor preferred, Valid ACLS/PALS/PHTLS credentials (instructor preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check, driving history check, and pre-employment drug screen.

Once an employee has met at least one (1) year as a contributing member to the retirement system, the employee will have a benefit payable to their beneficiary of no less than $25,000 and no more than $50,000 based on the employee's salary. Benefit is payable if the employee is actively working and has not reached 70 years of age.
Life Insurance - Basic term life insurance is the amount of one times the annual salary (no greater than $70,000) is provided for all FT employees. Additional coverage is available for purchase through payroll deductions for employee and eligible dependents.
Retirement Benefits - Membership in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System (NCLGERS) is a requirement for all full-time and regular part-time employees (working more than 1,000 hours annually). Employees contribute six percent (6%) of their annual compensation before it is taxed. If you leave the County service before retirement, you may withdraw your retirement contributions or elect to freeze your contributions in anticipation of future local government employment. If you have at least five (5) years of service, you are considered 100% vested in NCLGERS. Alamance County will be contributing a percentage as required by NCLEGRS on your behalf as well.
Time Off Accruals:
Vacation Time - All Alamance County full time employees immediately earn a bank of vacation hours that can be used after 6 months of employment (exhausting their probationary period). Vacation time accrues based on the full-time hire date (most recent hire date is used in the case of rehires). Employees with a hire date before the 15th of the month will receive vacation credit for that month; otherwise, time will not be earned. Time will be contributed to the employee's time off bank on the 15th of the month based on a monthly proration of the schedule below.

All County employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year with an earnings of 8 hours per month if employed on or before the 15th of the month.
County Observed Holidays - Alamance County will observe the State of North Carolina Holiday Schedule. Holidays will include the following and will be paid at 8 hours holiday pay. Exceptions have been made for certain departments given the nature of the services provided.

POSITION SUMMARY

* Conduct and/or assist with developing environmental education and interpretive programs for all ages and diverse audiences, including facility tours, curricular school programs, summer camp programs, public lectures, special events, outreach programs, live animal programs and field experiences in a variety of outdoor environments both on and off-site
* Maintain program props, interpretive displays, native plant gardens, and demonstration compost areas

Job Purpose The Temporary Part-Time Payroll Technician supports payroll operations by assisting with accurate and timely payroll processing and related reporting functions. Responsibilities

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County is looking for a Part Time Recreation Specialist to join the team at Eastway Regional Recreation Center. This position will be responsible for fitness programming and coordinating a variety of group fitness classes and wellness programs for our patrons. In addition, the incumbent will be a key member of our staff in building rapport with our patrons and promoting our fitness services. The preferred candidate would have experience in a fitness recreation facility as well as group fitness experience. This position will work about 29 hours per week and can expect a schedule of varying days/hours, which may include nights and weekends depending on business and facility needs.

POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add an innovative and dynamic Part Time Recreation Specialist to the team at Northern Regional Recreation Center! This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing community-based athletic programs for adults. In addition, they will assist with youth sports leagues, programs, and clinics. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading youth sports camps during the summer and assisting with other various facility needs. The ideal candidate would be committed to developing strong relationships with our community and continually assess their needs for additional athletic services and programs. This position will work a flexible 29 hours per week to include mornings/daytime hours, evenings, rotating weekends and holidays based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Develop, lead, and evaluate programs and activities in a recreation center or park facility.
* Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals.
* Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary.
* Enforce rules and regulations
* Collect fees and take registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
* Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
* Referee at various sports activities
* Provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or linesperson at games.
* Supervise children involved in after-school, summer or other recreational programs.
* Handles inquiries and complaints from public.
* Some programs may require driving a county vehicle to transport participants or commute to a different location
* Assist with department events and field trips
* May serve as manager on duty if the Sr Rec Specialist is not available
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required
Education: Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Health and Physical Education, or a related field, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience, including one of the following:
* Bachelor's degree with 6 months of prior work experience as a temporary or part-time employee with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department
* Associates, or Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of related experience
* Four (4) years of similar related experience
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes
Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges.; Requires the ability to obtain (within one year of hire) and maintain CPR/First Aid or First Responder
