Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Certified SterileProcessingTechnician, you will play a critical role in protecting patient safety and supporting life-saving care through precision and attention to detail. In this rewarding role, you will be a vital part of our team - helping surgical staff deliver safe, effective care by ensuring every instrument and supply is clean, prepared, and ready when it is needed most.
Your responsibilities will include:
Cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instruments and trays to ensure they are sterile, complete, labeled, and ready for use
Managing sterilization equipment and keeping accurate records to support patient safety and infection prevention
Preparing customized surgical sets and case carts based on daily schedules and specific procedure needs
Managing inventory and supplies in OR storage and specialty lockers, working with the surgical team to meet needs and keep operations running smoothly
Responding quickly to instrument requests during surgeries and helping solve urgent equipment needs
What qualifications you will need:
Preferred Education: SterileProcessing Training or Surgical Technician Training
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years as SPD Technician or equivalent

Duties
• Supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations. Assists Manager I, SterileProcessing to ensure proper operational procedures are followed by all members of the Steris IMS team.
• Collaborates with STERIS IMS Manager I, SterileProcessing for scheduling new STERIS IMS employee orientation, on-the-job training, in-service education and STERIS IMS or facility quality assurance programs when needed.
• Understands and promotes concepts of the Lean work environment as demonstrated through the proper use of the STERIS IMS Production Board.
• Responsible for directing department workflow based on Lean concepts.
• Schedules daily staff assignments.
• Supports and adheres to STERIS IMS policies and procedures and supports policies and procedures of facility.
• Refers all decisions beyond personal scope of responsibilities to STERIS IMS leadership.
• Reports broken instrumentation and equipment and communicates low par levels of SPD consumable supplies.

JOB SUMMARY:
Works under the direction of the Instrument Processing Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the SterileProcessing Department (SPD). Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service. Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the SterileProcessing Supervisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in SterileProcessing.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Certification as a Certified SterileProcessing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterileprocessing certification required. Certification in SterileProcessing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Expert in all aspects of the sterileprocessing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
2. Assumes role and responsibilities SterileProcessing Supervisor when assigned.
3. Assists SterileProcessing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
4. Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the SterileProcessing Supervisor.
5. Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with SterileProcessing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
