Walgreens Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is a postgraduate training opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their skill set in the community and specialty pharmacy setting. The primary residency practice site is a URAC accredited, community-based specialty and compounding pharmacy in Nashville, TN. The pharmacy teams service patients with many disease states including, but not limited to, oncology, transplant, chronic inflammatory and neurologic conditions, HIV, and HCV. The specialty community pharmacists at this site work closely with providers, patients, and the community to provide optimal drug therapy for patients. In addition, residents gain insights on management issues that can affect the implementation of patient care services in the community and specialty pharmacy setting. The pharmacist will complete a teaching certificate program and will assist in teaching opportunities and precepting experiences for the College of Pharmacy. The residency program graduates will be leaders in the pharmacy community and will have an active role in advancing community pharmacy practice.
