Lochner - learn more about us We are seeking an experienced roadway engineer to lead and support highway, street, and trail design projects within Utah and the West Region. The ideal candidate would have experience in leading and managing roadway design on highway, street and trail projects for UDOT and/or other local governments. Depending on the interest, the candidate would be able to gain experience as a project manager to eventually grow into a PM role. The Candidate will work our Cottonwood Heights Office with a Hybrid Remote Work Agreement for 3 days minimum in person. Your impact: Lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team; check work and progress; identify changes of scope and potential additional services. Serve as a Task Lead, or Design Engineer on large-scale highway, bridge, and/or trail projects with multiple disciplines and sub-consultant. Train and/or mentor junior staff Work with other West Region transportation leads in the completion of regionally significant projects. Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, conduct studies and design calculations, and support all aspects of an engineering project while collaborating with staff, consultants, and clients. Implement existing QA/QC procedures, participate in the further development and maintenance of the QA/QC program for transportation improvement projects Plan and lead project coordination meetings with the client. Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, and proposal activities. Continue to seek opportunities for growth and increased responsibilities as a Project Engineer and Project Manager for UDOT and other agency transportation projects. Who you are: 8+ years of roadway design experience for highways and streets. B.S. in Civil Engineering and licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Utah (or ability to obtain Utah PE License within six months). Candidate may report in-office or work a hybrid schedule and would be located in the Salt Lake City area or willing to relocate prior to beginning work. Solid background leading roadway design, with demonstrated interdisciplinary understanding and coordination skills. Trail design experience is a plus. Experience working on UDOT and local agency transportation projects is preferred. Experience in designing and delivering projects in Open Roads Designer required. Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D is a plus, but not necessary. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated and can work independently but also enjoy working and leading in a team environment. Able to prepare/coordinate a full PS&E package for approval and advertisement for construction by the client Ability to prepare or assist in the preparation and maintenance of client reporting such as status reports and other writing or verbal communications to the client, is a plus, but not necessary. What You'll Do: As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and design expertise on multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects. What You'll Do: As part of our Water team and working under our Process and Controls Technical Service Manager, you'll be a key player in planning and designing electrical systems for critical infrastructure projects. Specific responsibilities include : Plan production for industrial (water/wastewater) and environmental facilities utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software Coordination of design elements with other in-house disciplines, including architecture, structures, environmental, site civil, and landscape design Define equipment, layout, and protection requirements for new and retrofit distribution stations in accordance with all applicable industry codes and standards Must be able to interpret customer requirements and develop appropriate distribution station plans and specifications Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams on system layout, SCADA controls, automation, and instrumentation Preparing electrical calculations for power distribution (low/medium voltage), lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems What You'll Bring: Working knowledge of, power distribution (low and medium voltage), standby power systems, instrumentation, controls, lighting, and fire alarm systems Prior experience in Water and Wastewater treatment preferred, but not required Familiarity with ICC, NEC, NFPA building codes, LEED building standards.
