Do you work at Walmart?
Is Walmart's workplace comfortable and conducive to good work?
You do not have pros at the Fairfield, CA location. Associates walk away and hide when they see someone is approaching to ask a question, something that has happened to me on many occasions. They talk on their phones in a different language (Philippine) only one hand is free, and 6-8 people are in line! Disengaged with the workplace and customers. Workers cannot clearly communicate in English and its very annoying repeating one's self two or three times, even then you have to walk away before you say something. In addition, another branch in Richmond, CA, is slightly better but I purchased a HART weed trimmer; used and retaped for sale. On sale. I asked the checker if I could inspect the boxed item and was denied. Another lady, I assume the assistant manager, told me the same thing. I asked her to check it for me. The long box was on the conveyor belt. She stepped in front of it and with a pair of scissors, proceeded to cut through the clear tape that sealed the returned box. She then held on to the box, and with her back to me, said, in a not-so-nice tone), "Here, take a look". I pulled the long, tubular tool out to check for any fractures or other defects. It seemed ok and not used. I sensed she was impatient so I said Ok while she walked away without a word. Very Rude. I paid for the item, $78, and left. I live 32 miles away and once home, I got ready to assemble the weed eater when I noticed the charger and the battery were missing! I tried to call the store several times between 3:00-4 pm, but no one answered. There were two rings and then the hang up tone. This was the second part of my experience. The first occurred two days prior, when I purchased an identical unit, by HART, from a nearby 8 miles) Walmart a week earlier. On that occasion, all the parts were present and the unit was on sale, new & sealed. After assembly, I tested the unit briefly in my garage, to make sure it worked. I used the enclosed battery which had some juice it and it worked ok. The charger and battery were secured by cardboard at the bottom of the 4 ft-long box, almost undetectable. The next day I tried to trim the grass, and about 5 minutes into it, The unit began smoking and the motor seized. I examined the unit and found some of the plastic housing, had shattered which caused the string to become entangled around the spindle and into the motor compartment, still smoking. I spent a few minutes untangling the mess, recovering the removable cap which came off during the i

The pay is not up to par with the amount of work and effort my coworkers and I go through on a daily basis.
I have yet to come across any.
Having a job is a blessing in and of itself. But thus far this job is way too chaotic and stressful for what we have to deal with from both customers and managers.
The leadership is very much do as I do and not as I say which I love. But the favoritism and amount of back stabbing brings down the morale between coworkers. The work life is hectic because so many attempts to kiss managers backsides to gain good favour but overall it's detrimental to work life altogether.
Giving employees more perks. Letting things as simple as allowing associates to gain their discounts faster. Allowing new hires to switch jobs if one isn't to their liking without having to wait it out in a job they dislike or with a group of people they dislike. It's disheartening and cruel.
I never had an interview. Never was able to negotiate my pay or anything. I'm a veteran and I had no say in my pay, which is just $14.00/hr which is the lowest I have been paid in so long.
Terribly. I am a veteran and I constantly go above and beyond in everything I do yet I still make just enough to survive. It's humiliating.
Oh it's diverse and beautiful.
Helping customers when they need help finding things. Answering any questions I can and meeting my numbers as a digital personal shopper.
Close to home not to far to drive
Not having back to back days off or weekends
Hour lunch
No comment
People having better attitudes
I have years experience and common sense
Minimum
It doesn’t bother me either way
I get no joy at being at work except getting my paycheck
They will take care of you as long as you dont represent as being a woke, spoiled, childlike adult.
You don't got to go to work - you get to go to work!
in the early years, you grew with them and you could change jobs without changing companies. loss prevention, assistant manager, co-manager, manager, district manager, regional manager, jobs at general office, even become president. you get to go to as many new stores set ups as you wanted, because you knew what you were doing and you were a help to the new store. you were family at a family-oriented company!
they listen
reading the book that Sam Walton gave us at the home office and the stores, the 'One Minute Manager' by Ken Blanchard. Remember the two rules of associate looking to you for leadership, guidance, director. If you don't know what you are doing, step aside and let the associate show you. And never say to an associate, 'do as I say, not as I do!' Also, don't tell them you have worked there x number of years and you have earned the right to do what you do. You have never worked anywhere long enough to mistreat Sam and Helen Walton's associates!
read all about the early years. read all about the parts of Walmart, stores, Sams, and distribution centers/warehouses. read the book 'The One Minute Manager.' Be open, tell them what you want and what you expect when they ask you. Where do you want to be in 5, 10, 15 years? If you don't know, it will be hard to motivate you.
The job itself. I got to shop for people and help others find exactly what they are looking for.
Working there so much. I don’t get to look away from the job that much.
I like one thing about it, the job is not far from my home.
I don’t like how the managers manage there workers.
Healthcare
The benefits
The location iWork at the management needs improvement, they are disrespectful, you opinions and concerns do not matter. They talk to you however they want and if you express your concerns to higher management , your team lead/ coach retaliate against you
The educational benefits was my favorite part about the company
Opportunity to grow with the company and the training to do so is offered unconditionally
Unprofessional associates, a lot are just high school graduates and have been with the company for years and they get away things they probably would not at other companies
Life insurance and stock purchase
Always have something to do, it’s very busy
I like everything. I have no complaints so far
Free /Discounted pet supplies
Work culture
Just want something better
I just want a A good salary according to my education and work skills,I’m master in commerce and having a good command on office work.
benefits
General Manager, Regional Management, Home office wants to create a great place to work. But your manager shows any respect, and just want self recognition.
It's a good place to work but depends of what kind of Store Manager.
Worked independently in an office counting money.
Replaced by a machine
Early morning shift
My coworkers and helping people find what they're looking for every day.
The lack of benefits. Feels like Walmart is constantly looking for ways to take away benefits for hourly associates.
Not applicable.
eCommerce Home office: The benefits are good.
No work life balance, messy/toxic environment, Management cant be trusted
Pays for schooling (college), health benefits are awesome, perks site (buy hotel & vacation stuff)
Flexible hours and very easy to get promoted. If you work, you can easily get promoted to the next pay scale.
Everything else. The pay is horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone. All other jobs pay more than this place.
If you're cool with people, you can get away with anything.
Consistency, most of the time you know what to expect when going to work every day.
HO focuses more on numbers than people. They seem to be fading away from customer service, one on one service. This bothers me!
Bonuses, discounts
