Summary/Objective:
Behavioral Health Specialists are a key component of the interdisciplinary team that provide support services for clients addicted to alcohol and other drugs during the first year of their recovery. The overall goal of the BHS is to monitor behaviors, care for and provide assistance to clients in early abstinence. BHS's will perform functions efficiently and thoroughly to assure that the program runs smoothly and that the staff are supported during the admission process, day to day clinical activities and discharge.

The Housing Specialist assists families living in the Mary Eliza Mahoney Shelter to search for, identify and secure permanent housing. The work includes, but is not limited to, identifying and addressing barriers which may prevent families from obtaining permanent housing, screening families for eligibility for various housing programs and assisting families to apply for same, developing an individualized re-housing plan for each family/individual, working effectively with landlords, property managers, housing authorities, human service and community agencies to obtain and sustain permanent housing. The Housing Specialist must be willing to accompany families into the community to search for housing and apply and interview for same. The Housing Specialist works closely with the Stabilization Specialist to secure and maintain permanent housing for families.
Compensation: 18 to 27 per hour. Please note the role is scheduled to work from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Our Behavioral Health Services programs provide residential and outpatient treatment for those struggling with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. For many individuals, our programs literally save lives.
Under the direction of the Clinical Director and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, clinicians, counselors and Behavioral Health Specialists; the Social Service Worker / Counselor is responsible for providing clinical services including completing biopsychosocial assessments, individual and group therapy and care coordination for patients admitted Clinical Stabilization Services. The Counselor provides patient-centered, evidence-based treatment and supports to facilitate the realization of personal potential for Clinical Stabilization patients.
Essential Functions
Develop comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans for each assigned patient.
Provide brief supportive therapy and facilitate psychoeducational groups that include identifying and implementing evidence-based practices under the guidance of the Clinical Director. Counsel patients individually, in family meetings and in group sessions to facilitate progress toward treatment goals under the direction of the Clinical Director.
Maintain assigned patient caseload providing individual counseling multiple times per week to each patient, as appropriate.
Work in collaboration with the case manager to execute referrals and linkages to the appropriate level of care.
Provide crisis prevention, intervention and risk assessments and screenings, escalating to the appropriate party when assistance is needed (Clinical Director, nurse management, etc).
Complete all required documentation (biopsychosocial assessment, individual and group progress notes, treatment plan, discharge summary, insurance forms, etc.) in accordance with agency and DPH/BSAS guidelines for format and timeliness.
Attend and participate in staff meetings (daily and clinical).
Attend trainings as assigned.
Participate in individual clinical supervision and accumulate hours toward licensure, if applicable.
Other duties as assigned.
