In 1943 Wanslea is established by Florence Hummerston.

1946

In 1946 the Wanslea Hostel moves to Railway Street, Cottesloe

1976

In 1976 Wanslea’s first parenting support service, the Home Help and Family Support Service, opens

1984

In 1984 the Cottesloe Hostel closes

1985

In 1985 Wanslea begins offering cottage-based residential care in Mosman Park and foster care begins

1986

In 1986 in home care and family day care begin

1995

In 1995 the Scarborough office opens

1997

In 1997 parenting support services expanded in the Perth metropolitan area

1999

In 1999 the Mosman Park residential cottages close and cottage care ceases

2000

In 2000 family day care in the Great Southern commences and the Albany office opens

2003

In 2003 the Mandurah office opens offering family day care

In 2003 Leaving Care is established for young people who are leaving out of home care

2005

In 2005 Wanslea opens family day care in the Goldfields

In 2005 the first of Wanslea’s mental health programs for children and young people is established: Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (COPMI)

2007

In 2007 Wanslea moves into Early Learning and Development with its first Outside School Hours Centre at Methodist Ladies’ College

2008

In 2008 Wanslea opens its first Early Learning and Development Centre in Quarry Street, Fremantle and expands Outside School Hours Care in Fremantle

2009

In 2009 Wanslea begins providing services for Aboriginal families and children in the Great Southern

In 2009 Wanslea commences operating the St Peter and Emmaus, Rockingham and Plantagenet Early Learning and Development Centres and three additional outside school hours care centres

2010

In 2010 Wanslea Early Learning and Development formed as a legal entity

In 2010 the Katanning office opens

2011

In 2011 the Victoria Park office closes and the Cloverdale office opens

2013

In 2013 Wanslea’s services are extended to the northern metropolitan suburbs and the Clarkson office is opened

2014

In 2014 the Susan Teather Early Learning and Development Centre in the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct opens

In 2014 Specialised Foster Care is established

2015

In 2015 Wanslea opens a new child care centre in Rockingham

In 2015 services for Aboriginal children and families are provided in Kalgoorlie in partnership with local primary schools

2017

In 2017 parenting support services are extended to the Wheatbelt and an office opens in Northam

2019

In 2019 housing support services commence in the Wheatbelt and Goldfields in partnership with KEEDAC, Yorgum and Ruah Community Services

2020

In 2020 the Currambine and Hobart offices open
