    A company located in Anchorage is hiring for a Yard Supervisor. The Yard Supervisor will direct the activities of the personnel on site in order to ensure good customer service and safe and efficient movement of goods and equipment on the premises. This is a full time, direct placement position. You will be required to work onsite 5 days/week in Anchorage, AK. $70-$72k annual salary with bonus potential. Essential responsibilities include: • Manages yard staff and directs workers in loading, unloading and movement of materials on the premises utilizing material handling equipment and machinery; oversees receiving of yard materials and instructs yard workers in receiving and storage procedures. • Ensures that employees receive proper training and certification, if necessary, to operate equipment and machinery used in yard; ensures that equipment is serviced on schedule and maintained effectively. • Inspects loading operations for outgoing delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits and safety regulations; prepares and reconciles bills of lading and packing slips. • Provides on-the-job training to outside or new yard employees including product knowledge of items stored in yard and warehouse; housekeeping and safety procedures. • On occasion, will perform the same duties as other yard personnel. • Ensures that outside areas kept neat and clean and scraps and yard debris are appropriately recycled or disposed; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action. • Assists customers in loading and load building; provides delivery status information, inventory availability and answers related questions. • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co - workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures. • Leads and directs employees including assigning, monitoring and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues and training less experienced team members. May provide input on the performance of assigned employees to management. Required Skills & Experience High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 5+ years yard operations experience; or equivalent education and experience. Advanced knowledge of yard and product activities on location including component or materials weights and methods of loading. Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard. Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency. Ability to read and write work schedules and reports.
