Job Responsibilities:
Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution of materials and equipment.

The Opportunity This position is responsible for all shipping, receiving and material handling functions within the Martinsville, VAwarehouse. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: * Coordinate and monitor the activities of employees engaged in receiving, shipping, and transporting product and materials; assure production lines are serviced efficiently
* Maintain safe working environment through education, training, and continuous improvement of material handling functions; identify and correct safety deficiencies
* Assure adherence to warehouse SOPs, GMPs and work rules
* Responsible for proper maintenance of all warehouse equipment, including scheduling preventative and routine maintenance
* Manage inventory through cycle counts and audits to verify results; investigate and correct discrepancies
* Maintain documentation of customer requirements and train warehouse personnel accordingly
* Responsible for compliance with OSHA, DOT and IATA regulations and standards
* Responsible for performing supervisory functions such as training, employee development, performance evaluations, and enforcing company policies and procedures for both hourly and salary reports
* Lead and assist all Warehouse Supervisors with any needs that arise in other sites as well as ensure their compliance to all Warehouse Supervisor duties.
* Closely monitor capacity levels in each site as well as workload to staff ratios to identify opportunities where adjustments can be made to provide balance across all sites
* Assist in determining best sites to direct future warehouse opportunities in based on capacity and staff
* Work with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure safety, compliance, and drive efficiencies in all sites
* Fill in for other Warehouse Supervisors during vacations or other absences
* Other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
* High school diploma or equivalent; College degree preferred
* Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a production environment and prior supervisory experience.
* Computer applications experience using MS Office: Word and Excel
* Ability to effectively communicate with management and team members
* Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
* Experience in a collaborative team environment, delegating workload and responsibilities
* Ability to assist in the coordination of large-scale projects
