Summary of Position
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including the supervision of Warehouse Associates engaged in the shipping and receiving of audio-visual equipment, recording capture devices, event supplies, and courseware. This role involves managing inventory levels, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The Warehouse Manager is expected to be a working manager, with most of the time spent working with the team members. The Warehouse Manager will implement best practices for efficient logistics processes, train and mentor team members, and collaborate with other departments to meet operational goals. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a focus on safety and efficiency are essential. This position is key to ensuring that all equipment and supplies are prepared and delivered on time, contributing to the success of events, home recordings, internal meetings, and other SANS initiatives.
This is a full-time role located at the Beltsville warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
· Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff fostering a positive, safe, and productive work environment. Prioritize and assign daily work tasks to Warehouse Associates.
· Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and order fulfillment while ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
· Inventory Control: Develop and implement inventory management practices to maintain optimal stock levels and accuracy, including regular cycle counts and audits. Prevent stock-outs while minimizing inventory carrying costs.
· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
· Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, conduct regular safety training and maintain a safe work environment.
· Equipment Management: Monitor the maintenance and operation of equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
· Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators to assess warehouse performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
· Facility Liaison: Manage the relationship with the landlord and associated vendors, and ensure the space remains safe and functions well. Ensure the building has the necessary services to be efficient and effective.
· Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and other departments to facilitate the timely patching and updating of hardware and software, ensuring that all equipment meets operational standards.
· Customer Service: Address any issues related to shipping, receiving, or inventory discrepancies, working to resolve them promptly and effectively.

Basic Qualifications
· Associate's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations or logistics management
· Experience supervising or managing a team
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills
· Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite
· Basic understanding of safety regulations and compliance
· Ability to train Warehouse Associates in standard work practices
· Familiarity with audio visual equipment.
· Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

This position reports to the Director of Courseware & Instructor Operations and has 3 Warehouse Associates as direct reports.

Provide support to Visual Lead during implementation of retail campaigns.
Follow up with execution deadlines for key VM initiatives to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Support with the day-to-day maintenance of visual displays and product.
Report any damaged display product or tools to the Visual Lead.
Provide feedback to Visual Lead relating to gaps and opportunities.

Warehouse Supervisor
Manassas, VA
PURPOSE The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for directing and overseeing the warehouse operations of each retail store. In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising warehouse specialists, order pickers and forklift operators; will support the Receiving Supervisor in managing the daily freight schedule based on customer and inventory needs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel to ensure proper manning in order to ship and receive products at the store in a productive and cost-efficient manner
Direct the day-to day activities of the warehouse. Such activities include shipping, receiving, maintenance, inventory control, etc.
Responsible for the warehouse as it pertains to Storage Buy transactions, receiving errors, and staging of products
Responsible for maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and communicating all necessary repairs to CEM and/or Operations Manager. Ensure that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions
Responsible for warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations
Ensure all associates are trained and following all standard operating procedures
Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; ensures a productive labor climate in the warehouse operation
Handle general employee inquiries and solves problems
Coordinate with other departments to facilitate efficient warehouse operations
Complete necessary Activity Reports for management
Monitor the flow of paperwork from Receiving to Inventory Control Specialist for timely data entry
Resolve discrepancies with shipping, invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports
Responsible for the execution of the Storage Buy Audit COP.
Ensure products are staged for counting and inspection
Ensure products are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
Oversee the rotation of inventories within the warehouse
Perform other related duties as directed by management
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years of previous supervisory experience required (preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment)
Excellent interpersonal, team building, delegating and follow-up skills
Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with other departments in the company
Effective communication skills (oral and written)
Competent in performing basic mathematical calculations
Strong computer skills, with the ability to work in Windows-based systems
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet established deadlines
Available to work extended hours, especially during peak seasons
WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
