Position Summary
The Warehouse Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all yard operations at the Indianapolis (IND campus) sites, ensuring the efficient movement of trailers to support First, Middle, and Final Mile operations. This role focuses on yard flow optimization, supplier coordination, KPI management, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce dwell times, and improve overall network performance. The Sr. Manager will lead a team, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless yard operations.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee yard operations at Indianapolis (IND), ensuring efficiency, compliance, and seamless trailer movement.
Manage and develop a team responsible for yard flow, trailer positioning, and dock utilization.
Track and optimize key metrics: Trailer Dwell Time, On-Time Trailer Moves, Dock Door Utilization, and Load/Unload Efficiency.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective action plans (CAPs) for yard inefficiencies.
Lead daily/weekly business reviews (WBRs), providing performance insights and action plans to leadership.
Collaborate with transportation providers, yard hostlers, and sortation teams to improve yard flow and reduce congestion.
Implement yard management technology and automation tools to enhance visibility and operational control.
Drive process improvements and new program initiatives, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
Job Requirements
6+ years in yard management, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience managing high-volume yard operations, trailer movement, and dock utilization
Strong analytical skills in KPI tracking, RCA, and operational performance management.
Knowledge of yard management systems (YMS), TMS, and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
Proven leadership experience managing teams and working cross-functionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Work Environment
Onsite role at Yard Operations in Whitestown, IN (IND).
Requires regular coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
May require evening, weekend, or on-call availability based on operational needs

About the role....
