(CPI) is responsible for leading all outbound logistics activities to support our plastic extrusion manufacturing processes. This role oversees daily order fulfillment, staging, packing, documentation, freight coordination, and the timely and accurate loading of finished goods onto outbound trucks. This role further coordinates freight, ensures carrier performance, manages 3PL relationships (if used), and works cross-functionally with materials, production, and customer service to meet internal and customer delivery expectations. The Logistics Manager plays a key role in maintaining CPI's high customer service standards, ensuring complete and accurate shipments, enforcing safety protocols, and directing a team of logistics technicians across various shifts. The position supports CPI's mission to deliver quality extrusion products efficiently, securely, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Supervisory Responsibilities: Hires and supervises personnel responsible for all Shipping and Receiving functions. Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the Shipping and Receiving Department. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy. Shipping & Fulfillment Oversight Coordinate and supervise all outbound staging, order pulling, pallet wrapping, banding, and loading of finished extrusion products. Review daily shipment schedules and coordinate labor accordingly to meet delivery deadlines. Ensure all shipments include accurate documentation, such as BOLs, packing slips, photos, and labeling per customer or internal standards. Monitor truck arrivals/departures; confirm proper trailer loading, weight distribution, and securement of freight. Develop and manage an inventory strategy for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Lead material planning and inventory accuracy initiatives. Own cycle count program and root-cause investigations on inventory variances. Partner with purchasing and production to adjust forecasts and material requirements. Ensure warehouse layout and inventory storage aligns with FIFO and 5S practices. All other duties as assigned. Inventory & Order Accuracy (Outbound Focus) Oversee the accuracy of pick tickets and fulfillment processes for all outbound orders. Collaborate with Production and QC to ensure only released, approved material is loaded for shipment. Track discrepancies, damages, or delays, and escalate issues promptly to management or customer service. Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation and oversee cycle counts. Personnel Leadership & Scheduling Lead, schedule, and coach the shipping/Receiving team across all shifts and departments. The Manager, Shipping and Warehouse Operations, is responsible for working with Corporate/Plant Logistics & Transportation, Accounting, Customer Care, and the Plant/Site Management to develop and execute the Shipping/Warehousing strategy for the Plant/Site operation. This includes management responsibilities for all Shipping/Warehouse and Private Truck Fleet operations areas in the Plant/Site; (including associated offsite Warehouses), Inventory Control, and Receiving, (inbound/ outbound, and optimizing the local use of GAF rail and truck fleet equipment). This position will assure that proper business and safety processes are being followed in these areas. The individual will be responsible for the staffing and development of new and existing Shipping/Warehouse employees (as related to their primary job function) to ensure facility and department goals are aligned. Also, this individual will be accountable for the site(s) achieving shipping/warehousing safety goals, cost goals, service reliability metrics, and shipping volume goals. The position will evaluate and drive improvements in overall safety, along with operational cost effectiveness and efficiency within the Shipping/Warehouse and Fleet function. This position will interface externally with customers, truck and rail carriers, third party warehouse operators at the execution level, along with key equipment vendors and suppliers. Internally, they will work directly with others in the Plant/Site, Customer Care, Sales, and Corporate Logistics and Transportation. This position will report to the Sr. Supply Chain Manager. Essential Duties * Manage team in meeting or exceeding site safety goals, by providing a safe work environment, training and materials as needed, and instilling a culture of safety in Shipping/Warehousing and Private Fleet operations. * Ensure that a culture of quality is instilled in the warehouse and shipping area. This includes ensuring that outbound finished goods loads are shipped in a high quality condition, and also ensures that key processes are implemented and followed. Champion the Warehouse Improvement Process (WIP), ensuring that logistics staff follows the process, minimizing labor cost, reporting weekly metrics, conducting self-audits, meeting WIP goals (pallets handled/hour, labor cost per pallet handled, cycle counting adherence, etc.). Identify process failures that led to missed goals and develop and communicate continuous improvement plans to achieve WIP goals. Manage and control all offsite warehouse operations, assuring that documented operating processes are in place, team and/or third party is properly trained on processes and systems, product is secure, damage free, and properly rotated, trucks are loaded accurately, efficiently and timely, and cost control processes are in place and reviewed monthly. * Effectively manage warehouse and shipping resources to ensure Service and Volume goals are met. Actively lead efforts to become a Shipper of Choice, by providing service excellence to the carriers base and customer pick-ups (CPU) through shipping/warehouse team exceeding performance targets; time on premises, truck flow from gate in/out, loading times and loading accurately. Routine planning process in place to ensure efficiently manage shuttles and to meet shipping demand spikes caused by sales promotions, seasonal buys, weather related business spikes, etc. * Collaborate with the Sr Supply Chain Manager, Plant Manager, and Corporate Logistics Team in developing an annual Warehouse and Shipping, and Private Fleet budget. Lead team in managing logistics costs to budgetary goals in the areas of Shipping and Warehouse Operations. The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining successful operations of an assigned area, department, or shift of the warehouse/distribution center. Comply with company work and safety rules. Be trained and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days after hire. Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the Distribution Center; work schedules may require working an early shift, staying long for a late shift, and weekend work depending on the customer and operational requirements of the division. Work in warm and cold temperature conditions that may range from 38°F to 110°F; a supervisor assigned to the freezer must be able to periodically work in temperatures as cold as -10°F. Qualifications you'll bring as a Distribution Supervisor: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Have 2 years distribution warehouse experience, preferably in the grocery industry. Have experience leading large numbers of warehouse staff with experience in hiring, training, motivating and resolving employee relation's issues. Have computer knowledge to include experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrate the ability to lead by example. Possess good written and verbal communication skills. Be willing to listen and respond to teammates. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and teammates. Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.
