Warren Distribution company history timeline

1922

Warren Distribution is a family-owned business that was founded more than 95 years ago in 1922 by James Schlott, the grandfather of Robert “Bob” Schlott, the current Chairman and CEO.

Additionally, from the date the company began in 1922 until today, the company has always had an open door policy to ensure that its associates are respected as individuals and are treated fairly.

1930

In 1930, James’ son Norman Schlott joined the business.

Back in the 1930’s when the company began blending oil it was unheard of east of the Mississippi, but now the company manufactures and distributes oil across the globe.

1935

The product was so successful the formula was sold to an implement dealer in Eastern Iowa around 1935.

In 1935, Warren Distribution expanded into manufacturing and began making and packaging antifreeze.

1940

By the late 1940’s Warren had begun manufacturing antifreeze.

1963

In 1963, the company lost its building at 811 Howard Street due to a fire.

1971

Bob Schlott, grandson of James Schlott and the company’s current CEO, joined the company in 1971.

1976

Warren Distribution installed its first blow molding machine at its Council Bluffs location in 1976 allowing the company to manufacture its own bottles for packaging antifreeze under its Polar brand.

1980

As Warren’s business grew, space was needed to house raw materials and finished goods, so, in the early 1980’s, Warren Distribution built a 45,000 square foot warehouse adjacent to its Council Bluffs manufacturing facility.

1981

In 1981, all manufacturing was moved to Council Bluffs, IA and the Omaha warehouse was converted into office space.

1985

The distribution center sits just east of the manufacturing plant and was built in 1985.

2002

The facility started production in 2002 and is solely dedicated to producing private label brands.

2008

After a year of rehabbing the large factory, the company began blow molding and packaging operations in 2008.

2017

So, in 2017, Warren acquired a 200,000 square foot building sitting on nearly 46 acres in Shadyside, Ohio to serve as a warehouse for both finished product and raw materials.
