Position Purpose:
To set up and operate metal fabrication machinery, such as CNC horizontal band saw, CNC Vertical band saw, Overhead Crane, Forklift, various sanders, hand and measuring tools, tube benders, and oxy-acetylene torch.
Position Summary:
To set up and operate various metal fabrication machinery while referencing and interpreting technical blueprints to withhold tolerances laid out by engineering specifications as well as shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation in the work centers.
Essential Duties:
Produce Parts by Operating Various Fabrication Machinery
a. Refer to the blueprints provided for parts to be produced
b. Handle material and product within the saw area
c. Work with leads, techs, supervisors to stage materials for daily production through the saw area
d. Cycle count materials
e. Use scanning equipment to track material moves in the system
f. Perform daily maintenance on saws up to and including changing saw blades, scrap and chip removal, filling of coolant and coolant storage tanks
Monitor and Inspect for Quality Purposes
a. Provide feedback and report issues regarding blueprints and quality of parts produced
b. Use inspection equipment for quality assurance such as a tape measure, square, and calipers
Clean, Deburr, and Prepare Parts
a. Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece using a file, belt sander, hand grinder, or wire brush
Maintain a Clean Work Environment
a. Minimize Clutter
b. Trip hazards are cleaned up
c. Ground is dry and free of scrap and metal particles
Keep Workstations/Tools Clean and Organized in a Lean 5S Program
a. Sort - Separating tools, parts and instructions
b. Set In Order - Organizing tools, parts and instructions neatly and identify for ease of use
c. Shine - Clean up work area with chemical products and sweeping
d. Standardize - Regularly cleaning and maintenance
e. Sustain - Make this process habitual and apart of everyday
Maintain A Good Attendance Record
a. Following the schedule provided by the supervisor
b. Have good communication with supervisor regarding planned time off and unplanned time off
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
1. Industry experience is necessary
2. Strong Mechanical Aptitude
3. Must have at least a certificate and/ or equivalent work experience
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a standing position for most of the time
Must be able to weld
Must be able to wear a welding helmet
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to work in a production environment
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
Mental Demands:
1. Ability to work at a steady pace
2. Ability to work independently
3. Ability to use measuring tools and calibration requirements
4. Ability to perform basic arithmetic
5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Working Conditions:
1. Adheres to the time and attendance requirements as established by the department supervisor.
2. Conditions will vary from office to production environments
