Cons of working at Washington County Hospital and Clinics

Poisonous management If you’re looking for a place where you feel safe, listened to, or cared about WCHC is not right for you. Upper management cares more about themselves and their reputation than Employee satisfaction or quality patient care. If you’re looking for a new job because you aren’t happy with how your current place handled COVID-19 please look elsewhere. In March, a number of employees including C suite attended a pub crawl even though COVID was on the rise and schools were closing. Management publicly yelled at employees for wearing masks because “it was scaring people.” Employees with positive family members at home were allowed to continue working unmasked. An incident involving a positive patient being treated in both the ER and Inpatient floor where staff wasn’t properly protected was swept under the rug and staff was asked not to go to the media. When workers approached their Incident Command team (which the media praises for starting) with questions or concerns they were told to zip their lips- questions weren’t answered and concerns were pushed aside. When financial crisis hit the handful of people who brought up concerns were laid off. No upper management took cuts to save employees from being laid off. Departments that lost people include nursing, physical and occupation therapy- front line workers caring for patients every day. Departments not affected: marketing, HR, upper management- people hiding in their offices, lying to the public, and pulling the strings.
