Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, site plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools (Bluebeam, HCSS, or similar).
Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

The position will work in all areas of the property, including formal gardens, greenhouses, a cut-flower garden, orchard, meadow, and woodland.
The Role:
As a Horticultural Intern, you will experience an 8-month hands-on horticultural program that offers early career professionals valuable on-the-job experience and mentorship by Naumkeag horticultural staff. You will gain valuable experience conducting various landscape and garden maintenance tasks throughout the property while participating in several educational activities throughout your internship.
Specifically, you'll:
Perform various landscape and garden maintenance tasks such as but not limited to fine gardening, pruning, weeding, planting, lawn care, mulching, watering, tree and shrub care, recording phenology and plant records, propagation, and other property maintenance as required.
Work independently or with a team to accomplish tasks.
Assist with educational programming, seasonal events, and workshops.
Act as an ambassador for the Trustees (along with other staff and volunteers) at public events and other outreach opportunities
Write a daily Plant-of-the-Day Report
Participate in guided plant identification walks and complete plant identification exams.
Attend field trips to local and regional public and private gardens

As a member of the Jacob's Pillow Intern Class, you will be required to participate in general festival-related duties that aim to broaden your scope and understanding of the various arts administration and production roles that exist within this field as time allows and requirements evolve. These will include but are not limited to giving campus tours, assisting with production changeovers in the theater, assisting with patron campus transportation via golf carts, handing out tickets at will call, and other ways to interact with guests including moving chairs, setting up for events, errands, and transporting artists. Training will be provided prior to participation in these activities, and while these duties will be a part of your overall experience, you will still spend the majority of your time within your primary assigned role.

Responsibilities
TSP Leaders will co-lead an international travel and service program (ICEP) for our teen population focusing on leadership development, service-learning, and environmental/cultural exploration. Programs will start and end at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, but the majority of the time will be spent traveling away from camp. 2026 program destinations: Chile, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Spain, & Uruguay. All trip experiences include travel, interaction with teens/youth, service projects, and cultural learning experiences. Trips may also include camping, hiking, and food preparation. Trip leaders will live and travel with program participants and support them to have positive, healthy, and growth-producing experiences. Leaders will be responsible for facilitating the program's core components, including a leadership training program. In addition, leaders will work with the administrative team to coordinate trip details and carry out risk management policies and procedures.
